I don't mean to put it out there like this, but can someone give me some advice on how to open up a new bank account, even if having your name in ChexSystems?

You should try a credit union

I appreciate the suggestion, but hell na, I just left Patelco. I was cool with them for about 2 years, until they started this charge monthly, for funds being too low. Damn, there was nothing I could do, and didn't want my account to be on withdrawal status, so I closed my account. But now I'll look into another credit union.

I'm not sure about the one Myst recommended but my credit union checks through chexsystems.
My mother opened a checking account in her name. Then she added my name to the account as the secondary user.
Because my name was not the primary account holder, they did not take my SS# or run it through chexsystems. They simply added my name on the checks as someone who could write them.
This was originally done so that I could assist my Mom with paying her bills, then she just handed the account over to me, and opened a seperate one. My sister's account was opened the same way. My mother is the primary on it as well.
This was through Nationsbank/Bank of America. I don't know if this is the case at all banks, and I have since closed the account.
If you are really into being a con artist (don't know if you want the ghettofabulous route or not) I do know that if someone else opens an account for you, and you order checks through one of those online companies with the cartoon characters, they will put WHATEVER name you request on the top of the checks.
Due to the electronic age, the banks are not checking to see if they match with the account holder when the checks come through.
In other words your friend Jane Doe could open a checking account. Give you the banking info, then you order checks that say Reesecup with your address info.
You would not however have the benefit of check cashing or debit card services. That would only go to Jane Doe.
This is also one of the newest identity theft cons. People don't realize there name is being used because the person only OPENS the account in their name. They write checks in their own names or alias.

I don't belong to patelco, but it's the only credit union that I know of that doesn't require you to work for a certain company. You can just live in the area.
I also don't think it matters if you are in chexsystems b/c I know folks who bank there that can't get a regular bank account.
But since Patelco is out of the question, where do you live reesecup? Sometimes cities have their own credit union that's an option.

I don't think Navy Federal checks. Then again, I was 17 when I first got that account so mabye they used my dads' info
You can always work out a payment plan with the company that you owe $ to and once your balance is paid, you can go to chexsystems and then request your name to be removed. Many companies will settle with you for a fraction of the balance owed...

It's like Equifax for checks. It records your name if you owe a bank money from a previous account, or have outstanding bounced checks.
Joi your store doesn't use chexsystems before accepting checks for cell phones?

I know where that Walmart is. I'm up the street and next block over from the Valley Transit Station. We are not that far from each other. I stay in a fonky old apartment, but shit it beats living at home with mom's in her crib.

Don't know if you are still interested Reese but I joined this website www.passchecking.com.
It's a site designed to allow you to look into your record with chex systems and possibly be removed.
With mine after paying off the debt I found that the bank listed me as "abusing my account" so even though I owe no one any money I'm listed as a risk.
I've written a letter of dispute because the "abuse" of my account was due to AOHELL withdrawing once a day instead of once a month and it was the eventual reason I closed the account.
The bank refused to do anything to stop it, and for awhile I just kind of let it go. But in clearing up my credit I payed it off...and as I said...it's still there.
However in the meantime they list banks that do not check chex systems OR if they check they will accept a reasonable explanation for what's showing.
I opened an account at www.netbank.com
I have checks, direct deposit, and a Visa check card.
Still in chex system...but as I said I am disputing that as we speak.
