This past weekend I was supposed to go to Philly to visit my aunt who was extremely ill. Before leaving the hospital called and said she was clinically dead and wanted to turn off the machines. Because I went through that with my brother I decided it was something I didn't want to see so I didn't go.
My Mom and Dad, 3 of my aunts, and my uncle went. My aunt would have died saturday morning but the first vulture swooped down.
Her granddaughter-in-law asked the doctors to wait to turn off the machines until she could get her money out of the bank. WTF??? Her name was not on the acct but if she was alive she felt she could somehow convince the bank to let her have it on Monday if they would just wait.
My aunts son, and my mother told the doctors she was dead, turn the off, forget the money.
Then the family from SC went to my aunt's house to spend the night before driving back Sunday.
How about 2 of my vulture aunts cleaned that house of everything of value...didn't ask my cousin (her son) for nothing just packed it up in the van. My cousin came over to get the dress he wanted to bury his Momma in...my ignant ass aunt had in packed in her suitcase. When he asked for it she said "It's too much trouble to unpack it."
Since he was grieving he just left, said he'd buy her another dress.
Why do people act like that when someone dies????
Needless to say I ain't going this weekend for the funeral because I'm trying to cut down on cussing so much and these folks...well anyway....I ain't going.

u might want to reconsider going. It sounds like your cousin may need your morale support, being that those "vultures" including his wife hasn't wasted any time. He might click on there azzez and it sounds as if it wont be nothing Nice.
It also sounds as if you aunt didn't leave a will or power of attorney for them to just go take over her stuff. Hopefully she and your cousin can get some of her belonging back.

Sad just sad...but my family was the same way when my grandfather died.
They couldn't try that shit when Grandma died cause Grandpa was still living, and he dared a soul to come take anything...
But when he died....they fought over everything....all the way down to bible.
You should see there house today...I know they have done flips 10 times in there grave.
I don't even go in it now....

We always have to act up when someone dies. . . fighting over $$$ and personal stuff. . . I never understood that~!!
Tastey, you should go to pay your last respects to your Aunt~!! Forget those human vultures~!! :blah:
Family~!!!!!!! Can't live with them, or without. . . sometimes~!! :(

that is why i always say
"don't judge a person by their family"
it's best not to be involved and sit back and watch the aftermath...

This is the reason to have a will. No matter what age you are, please
protect your assets. When my father died his sisters had the nerve to ask for half his shit eventhough my parents were married over 20 years. Niggas will do anything for a dollar.

its really a bad scene when family goes down like that....
But ya know what? its colorless....meaning, it doesnt matter whether they're black, white, asian, etc.
I guess what Im really trying to say is that by having a will, all that shit is alleviated...and those who rightfully should get something are properly compensated instead of this vulture mentality....
Ill bet somebody is still trying to get that money outta the bank

She has a will leaving everything to her only son. His name is also on the bank book as having access to the money.
The thing is these vulture just took it anyway.
He unlocked the house so they would not have to pay for a hotel. They went in and started packing up stuff.
Honestly most of it he probably would have given them anyway if they had just asked. Costume jewelry, clothes, TV, VCR, stuff he doesn't need or really want. It's the principle behind it.
How much common decency does it take to say "Hey, do you mind if I have?"
He has since called my mother and asked if she wanted any of the furniture (they couldn't pack that) and that he would ship it. He offered it to her because her and my other aunt didn't try to take anything. She declined. He's giving it to the Salvation Army.

All it takes is for a death for your family members to really show what they're made of.
A girlfriend of mind was in a tragic car accident (her husband and daughter were killed). While she was in a coma in the hospital her husband's family went and cleaned out the house, cause they just knew she was gonna die too.
Amazingly, although she was in a coma she could hear everyone's conversation when they came into her room. When she regained consciousness she was able to tell her family what was going on.

Hmmm....that is so sad....but unfortunately, you see that kind of thing all the time.
Will or not, family members descend and try to clean everything out....it is a shame that people are capable of acting that way.

It's pathetic the depths that people will sink to. That is really sad,Tastey. But some people have no scruples and will wait until the times that people are vulnerable, to take advantage of a bad situation....:blah:
