Ladies...do you get any kind of pain or change in your body when it's your time of the month?
If so, has it gotten better or worse since you first started?
Why do we have to have pain in thefirst place?

when I was 11 it was just blood to me...
and didn't bother me physcially...
now that I'm 40 something it's still blood to me, but I 'm ready for it to stop...
when I got in my late 30's I noticed many changes....I think they call it PMS...:blah: :blah:

I just started noticing the water retention. My breasts get sore right before my that time. I want to eat everything in sight and i am turned on most of the time. I had pretty bad cramps from about 15 until after i had my daughter. Now the pill keeps me from having cramps. But i have notice some other changes that probably shouldnt be mentioned here. The pain comes from your uterus contracting to get everything out. Contractions are just really really bad cramps.

actually getting your uterus takin out is as easy as tyin the tubes....and takin the uterus out eliminates the drip drip every month...all u have to do is douche instead.

A doctor will not take your uterus out just because you want it out.

I found that. . . that time of the month is worse now. . . since I gave birth to my daughter and have not been on the pill in like six years or so . . . .
It's more painful and the flow is just ridiculous. . . and we're talking every month~!! :(
Que, why would any young woman want to have a hysterectomy if she doesn't have to~??

Que, I got my tubes tied, and no I never wanted my uterus taken out. The after effects of a complete histerectomy are more than some can bear. And I do not want to spend the rest of my life taking hormones or loss of sex drive, dry coochie or the many other effects of such a drastic surgical procedure!!!!

the uterus has nothing to do with hormones...your ovaries do. normally it is an older woman that talks about hysterectomy....and so it coincides with menopausal symptoms...let's not confuse the two.

que90nek
10-08-2001, 07:44 AM
the fact of the matter is...
the uterus and your period do a lot toward keeping your body CLEAN...and FLUSHED....
if u take it out...u must do this on your own.
this is just an option for gettin rid of your period...from what i understand most docs will dissuade u from doin it unless u have a medical reason...
ThickBodyHottie
10-08-2001, 07:59 AM
so...does your osmosis tell you that though tube-tying can be reversible, uteral-removal is not?

10-08-2001, 08:06 AM
I have never heard that the uterus and periods are used to clean the body. Could you explain that too me. I know that the lining of the uterus is discharged during that time...but cleaning the body? I dont know.

I have also had my tubes tied.. But to have taking my uterus out instead?? I don't think so!! Like TBH said.. There are so many complications after the fact.. I know women who had a hysterectomy because of medical conditions and are taking hormone pills because of it.. And no.. They aren't middle age..
Now to answer the original question.. My periods have changed.. But not too much.. Seems like the pain changed with each child I had.. After I had my middle son I didnt have any pain.. But it came back after I had my daughter.. And the pain has gotten worse since I had my tubes tied.. Sometimes it was so bad I have gone to the doctor thinking I had a cyst that was about to bust!! But was told that this was a side effect of having your tubes tied..
I used to be able to tell time by my periods because they always came on the same exact day like clockwork.. If it didn't show on the 22nd.. Then I would start getting worried.. But in the last year it has shown up anywhere from 3 days before to 5 days after..

When I was 9 yrs old my periods have been hellacious.
I have horrible cramps and headaches.
The only thing that changed after my son was born was that I had a Ceasarean with a bikini cut and the cramps hurt right along my scar. Ugh! :blah:
But I guess I'm lucky because other than that and craving chocolate I really don't have PMS. I don't experience the mood swings or any of that.

Tastey do you have scar tissue by any chance? Sometimes those tissues will cause you to hurt like that.
Que.......trust the sisters when they tell you; One can not just walk in the doctor's office and request to have a hysterectomy. There has to be a medical reason for a doctor to do the process. I know this from experience. As many problems as I had with my pregnancies, the only option I had left was to have my tubes tied. There are those doctors that will do the job for you w/ no questions asked, but many of those doctors have a fucced up past record.
BOT....Mine have changed a lot over the past couple years. I never had cramps or anything until last year. There has been one occassion that had me in the bed all weekend with a heating pad. :( My gyn. mentioned that she could give me a low dose of prozac. She claims the drug has something in it that can minimize the pain and such, but I don't think so. Hells naw! :fu I was hurting, but not trying to comit suicide. :blah:

I started my period @ 12..was ALWAYS regular!!! Then about age 20-21 my body went haywire and I stopped ovulating. I am 27 and I no longer have a period. I havebeen taking Provera(progesterone tablets) in order to have a period. Maybe all that will change since I just had surgery last week to remove hellaious scar tissue from my uterus, ovaries, and fallopine tubes. I miss having "regular" period sometimes. Medically we only need 3 periods a year to clean out our uterus, and Que you mentioned douching...most OB/GYNs advise against douching...it washes away good cells in your uterus. A woman's body NATURALLY cleans itself.

I used to be regular and no pain with or without birth control pills through my late teens and early-mid 20's, even after the birth of my daughter at 23.
But after I hit my thirties and while still taking The PILL I started missing periods and then I immediately went the opposite route to having somewhat unpredictable and shorter spans in between but having longer, heavier flows with cramps that will have me doubled over in pain. So, I was like forget this and quit taking the pill. . .I have a period when my body feels like it more or less and that can range from 18-26 days. . .it's been co-operating lately and showing up around 24-26 days.
I think my body's boycotting against me abstaining. . . when I was doing mad f*cking I wasn't having no problems! But seriously orgasms do reduce the likelihood of painful cramps. . .
I think I'm going to take out an ad for some man to help me get over my monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) dilemma. . .

In the past five years my periods have been getting on my nerves more than before..... I always have lower back pains a day or two before.... I get my period twice a month at least three times a year... I have never missed when i did I was pregnant.... My flow is sometimes heavy one month and stays on for 7 days and then the next month light and stays on for 4 days..... After awhile that shit gets on ur nerves....
But regardless I would never have a hysterectomy or even a partial hysterectomy (whish is what Que is talking about when he says take the uterus out) because there is nothing medically wrong with me....
Que hon dahlin, I think the ladies no a little bit more about their body than u do...regardless of your osmosis.... u need to stay out of this one....

Having your uterus removed is not that simple que.
Anyway, I began my periods at 10, with cramping so bad, it kept me home from school. I had my first child at 17, and my periods suddenly became easy.
15 years later, I had my noodle, and good lawd! Back to the difficult periods again...and now they have the nerve to be erractic...can't plan nothin...pisses me off....
and please don't tell me to get on the pill, I am over 35 and smoke like a chimney, no doctor is having that, okay?????????

My periods started at 12 and haven't changed since then. They last 7 days, I have the worst cramps in history, can't walk, can't eat, motrin can't touch my cramps. My doctor prescribed demerol for the pain, but I threw them up.....so I just suffer!! I have to use the super-duper maxi pad/super-plus tampon combo on the regular, cause just wearing a pad is a waste of time.
My doctor says that I am very fertile (that's why I have 4 kids!!), so I had to get my tubes tied, which didn't change my periods. Hell, I can probably still get pregnant!!
But I am not looking forward to menopause, and will never get a hysterectomy. I heard those damn hot flashes will drive ya crazy!
Peace

I know I am 28 years old but I still cant deal with a cycle every month. From the time I first started in 9th grade all the way until about 25 years old, I would get a cycle once or twice a year. I was HAPPY with that. Now, my doc has me on these meds that cause me to have them regularly. It is DEPRESSING! I hate the site of blood and I sho nuff hate to .....well, you know. I am blessed that my husband is caring and sensitive to my needs during that time. He buys all the stuff and lets me be a baby and cry when its time for a 'change' LOL
My mother said I never grew to really understand it and now its too late. I am completely irritated by the entire thing.

I get almost every symptom.....
Bad cramps....always had them since I first started... even my outer nether regions ache sometimes.... can anyone explain that ?
back aches
breasts get sore
upset stomach
I feel bloated
food cravings.......strong tasting food and especially chocolate
the worst mood swings..........no one can stand me during that time.... and I can't stand them either  EVERYTHING irriates me
The week or so before it comes I am like an animal in heat
I become very sensitive and take everything personaly.
I also get this feeling of being tense, frustrated, and angry all at the same time....it makes me feel like I need to go to the top of a mountain and scream my head off.
I feel sorry for Zuri ....... he gets put through..... as he calls it.... "bloody hell" every 26-28 days. All he can do to keep me at bay is get me ice cream from Cold Stone .... and that's only a temporary fix.

I get a really dull, almost a pulling sensation feeling in my lower region. Cramping is usually mild, but it has gotten worse sense having children. Headaches are my biggest complaint. I'm already a migraine sufferer.
Not to mention the bloating, my skin gets super oily and a zit or two pop up, and they are painful zits too.
