Monster's Ball (2001)

Synopsis:
The story centers on Thornton and Ledger, who operate the electric chair at the local prison. Hank lives with his aging racist father, Buck, and his own twentysomething son, Sonny. Hank and Sonny work for the local prison, where they are preparing the electric chair for a black inmate. Halle Berry plays Combs' character's wife, with whom Thornton (Hank) falls in love, despite his racism, who is not aware that Hank knew her husband. Meanwhile, the prison job has affected Sonny's psyche on such a deep level that he ends up meeting his own tragic end, while the racist Buck gets what he deserves.

I was mad her characters name was Leticia and ooh lawd, I was LMAO when she found out her son was hiding candy and snacks under his pillow...

and lawd I had no idea P-diddy was in the movie...and Halle getting it on with Billy Bob Thorton..who would have thunk it!

Yeah, I was trippin when the dad was reading the paper and they showed PDiddy's face... that was a great show of things to come... why that fool cut out the clipping?

The sex scene... WOW... I was thinking "is that how i sound and look?" they were all up between the couch and the table and the table didn't move not one inch! :D

I laffed when she, out of no where, called her son fat in the middle of her crying! Oh my damn, me and my girlfriend cried and laughed at the same time...

Wasn't it a quiet movie...? But when the height of emotions was expressed, the scenes were LOUD...

i found myself quoting this movie after it was over. i think this will be one of those movies i remember all the lines too.

Hey Duce remember this:

"Can I touch you?"

nods head

"Did it hurt?"

"Not in any bad way!"

I was like *sigh* :hearts: he asked permission! :beer

You know, when she said that, i thought "how BELOVED of her!" (Remember that scene from that movie...?) both women were under "distress" to feel loved... and desperate to feel the emotions that had been taken away from them! (beloved by death and yearning to be alive and leticia by imprisoment and subsequent death of her husband and her yearning to feel alive again!)

Yeah! I was like..."aaaaawh damn...she bought to kill this man fo sho"

the chocolate ice cream was SO romantic. you notice how clean billybob is and he kept eating with a plastic spoon, and at the end, he fed her with HIS plastic spoon, although, she had her own? :king

you know, they showed it when he FIRST went in and you can "overhear" the conversation about him buying it... and that's it...

I didn't enjoy this movie at all! There was too much raw emotion..maybe I was reading too much in to it, none the less..IT SUCKED. I didn't like they way she lashed out at her son, or the way she "hooked up" with " Hank. SHe is a great actress and she played the role but I didn't like the stroy line....

Awh man Babygirl, that RAW emotion was the essence of the movie!

It was TOO much for me! I guess it was the mental/physical abuse that I identified with and it stirred up some things I had thought were no longer there. And I really didn't like the sex scene...it was sooo ugh! :( sorry y'all I couldn't began to like this movie if I was featured in it.

hmmm...it was almost like... Leticia... is SO pretty of a name... Halle is SO pretty person... and her character lived SUCH a hard life... everything is suppose to be SO ugly, ya know?

then grow into beauty... instead... it was like... everything grew ugly when she found her husband's drawings... then got pretty again...

I think Halle acted her best when she was quietly expressing her discontent with situations... her OUTBREAKS were not HER...

i still loved the movie though! hee hee hee
