Which do you have?

Which do you prefer?

Why?

I'm thinking of changing from cable to satellite and am looking for some insight.

I have Direct TV.... Its cool.... There are a few things I dont like.... I dont have regular Local TV Channels.... Local Stations became available in my area after I got it and I would have to pay for a whole nother dish and whatnot.... I aint trying to do all that.... Another thing I hate is when it rains snows ect ect the dish can lose its signal and then ya gotta wait it out.....

Other wise I love it....

I have Directtv and I have the local channels included in my package. CL is right though sometimes you have to wait it out if it storms. But I like it better than Time Warner I pretty much have all the movie channels I had when I was with TW and it's much less with Directtv.

Just a little thought.....

the cable people have a secret that they dont want you to know about.....

they get their programs from the satellite...
it has to be somewhat degraded to move it through the cable medium to your home...

In the meanwhile, they blast the satellite providers, saying that the dish is so whack....

the best reception comes from a satellite....

Just a note...

You can own an "illegal" cable descrambler (can be bought online), the only thing illegal is using it to descramble channels that you should be paying for. Cable companies cannot trace these boxes.

Satellite TV can be descrambled, but it is traceable I believe.

Not saying to buy or use them, just letting you know what's up.

I ordered Direct TV, but they said i have too many tree's or whatever. So i'm having them trimmed...but the cable guy hooked me up until i get them clipped.

Trees will prevent your dish from getting uninteruppted service...you could have the dude put it on your roof instead of the side of the house....but then when it snows....that COULD be a problem..

I was about the chuck cable TV and go with satellite, until I got digital cable. Cablevision's IO Silver package gives me everything but the Cinemax/Showtime preminum channels, and even then, I can see Soul Food on demand, show by show if I want to pay extra. I think I have every damn thing else though. The 35 music channels make downloading almost unnecessary.

I never had satellite, so I can't compare. But they converted me, from regular analog cable to digital, put four set tops in my house, the cable man even ran all new cabling, and the picture is perfect! Only a $10 bump in price. That's $80/month. Add to that the fact that the weather is usually not an issue, and I see no reason to go Direct.

I know that the digital technology has eliminated the black boxes. You have a card in each set top, and that sucker is dialed in like a modem. I'm sure they are racking what channels are watched too. As long as they can't see Seymore Butts videos playing on the tube, I'm fine with the cableTV.
