I used to have reservations about it, but over the past 2 years or so, I have decided I want to be cremated. Just seems it would take alot of the pressure off the family when I am gone. no worrying about dressing, fussing over hair, makeup, etc. I have watched my family go through hardships with loved ones who had no insurance nor plots to be buried in. It is more than a notion and I don't want my kids to have to go through that.

Though I will admit I was going to try to purchase 2 plots that an older woman was selling about 4 years ago. After going back and forth with my mom for almost a week about it, I let it go because she thought it was crazy. I was trying to do my girls a favor if anything should happen to their father and/or myself. Needless to say, he and I both want to be cremated and that's what I plan to put in my will so they will not contest it.

My deepest condolences Chey.

To answer the question. I think that once a person is dead what happens to the remains is irrelevant. Burial, cremation, whatever is not important.

I've had people ask why I never visit my brothers grave. It's because I don't believe my brother is in that grave. His remains are but my brother lives in my heart. If I miss him and want to "visit" with him. I pull out photos or videos...I don't go sit in a graveyard.

DO NOT CREMATE ME.

Let me tell u why.

My 1st year students have a course where the have to open up dead bodies.....we have a whole basement full here at work. These bodies are supposedly donated to science....

now

some are, some not.....those that are not are either unclaimed bodies and some are bodies of those in which the family requested cremation.

I have been down there but i could not look at the bodies because i was to afraid i might see someone i know.

I don't have any particular feelings about cremation.

Although I threaten my mother with it when she's not "acting" right...LOL...It's just joking between her and I.
