It was brought to my attention that my posting was considered spam. I've chosen to remove it and extend my appolgies to the onthehush community. It was not my intention to offend. Trust that it will make myself completely aware of the rules and regulations of the community to avoid any such offense in the future.

Are currently in Spain?

If so, what's the climate like there in light of the recent bombings which are being attributed to Al Qaeda?

Are there many Blacks (or those primarily of African descent) in Spain?

Are you an American living in Spain?

Do you fear living abroad since the war in Iraq?

What part of the United States did you grow up?

Are you married? Kids?

What's your favorite color?

What kind of places do you shop over there?

Is there a McDonald's there? What types of food do you eat?

P.S. . . . . I would have posted these questions someplace else but. . .it seems the only place to find you is in these threads. . .the only place you seem to have made a predominant appearance is in the BLACK STYLE, FASHION & BEAUTY forum. . .and since I'm not a tried & true weave-wearer. . .I really have nothing to add to these types of threads. . .but good luck with the business venture.

Oh. . .I thought of a couple more questions.

What is your ethnic heritage? Are you Black & Hispanic (or do they prefer to be called Latin there)?

What places would you recommend tourists visit? Can you scan and post some pics?

What other places have you been around Europe? France? Italy? Portugal?

I have more questions I could ask, but that's a start.

Count on it! Thanks for the quick response....

Hi Brightness: Nice tag. I've tried to answer your questions. Also feel free to email me. I love pen-pals!

Are currently in Spain?

Yes, Live and run my company from Barcelona.

If so, what's the climate like there in light of the recent bombings which are being attributed to Al Qaeda?

The weather is lovely - not too cold, hot in summer and by the sea (I'm a straight up beach bunny!).

Re the political climate, Spain is an interesting place right now. It's a 25 year young democracy - so politics has a very active and practical space in the lives of people here. When the war first broke out there were massive protest here and every night at 10pm the whole city would stand on their balcony and bang on pots and pans for an hour - for months they did this! Literally, the whole city would 'clang'. It was amazing, I had never witnessed anything like it. Before that Spain had been under Franco, a pretty hard-core dictator who kept the people fairly cut off from the world. As a result there is not much in the way of American culture here - although, it took 15 years but MacDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Hip Hop made it in! Still, the number 1 music in Spain is still Flamenco. To his credit though Franco made sure his people were very well educated and their healthcare system is amazing. But I'm getting off the subject... I say all this to say that when the bombing happen people actually called the then prime minister and told him they were voting him out - and of course they did. It was extraordinary.....

Are there many Blacks (or those primarily of African descent) in Spain?

Yes, but as you point out they are mostly Africans. Although I have many black friends here form Guiana, Canada and Germany. FYI there are about 25,000 American living in Spain at the moment...

Are you an American living in Spain?
Yes.

Do you fear living abroad since the war in Iraq?

No, I was living in NYC in Soho on 9/11. I don't think you can avoid the worlds madness. I just try to live my life and make decisions that help me grow as a person - I have a natural curiosity about the world that I have always indulged in myself.

What part of the United States did you grow up?
Born and raised in Ohio..

Are you married? Kids?
Yes. No.

What's your favorite color? I have many...

What kind of places do you shop over there?

Well, to be blunt Spanish women have big asses and I have, for once been able to buy trousers that fit (I heard Angels sing!!!) They also like to wear them long, I am tall, 5'10 w/o shoes, so it's been a blessing for my wardrobe. They have all the standard stores here - both designer (Gucci Prada) the the good knock-offs (Zara - which was started here in Spain). And the local brands are pretty cool too. The most difficult challenge for me was learning to shop for food. I didn't know any of the brands and could not, at first, read the labels. Going grocery shopping was among my first Spanish lessons! I also, learned this: We are spoiled for choice in America...

Is there a McDonald's there? What types of food do you eat?

Yes, and I hang my head when I turn the corner in one of these lovely ancient medieval neighborhoods and there are the Golden Arches!

Oh. . .I thought of a couple more questions.

What is your ethnic heritage? Are you Black & Hispanic (or do they prefer to be called Latin there)?

I'm Black American. Re the label preference, Europeans don't really think in terms of these preferential labels. A luxury of a one-cultured society. They don't need to identify themselves on that level. I had brunch this weekend with a couple, she Japanese, he was Spanish. She referred to herself as 'Oriental' and I asked her was there any negative connotation to that word for her. I never used the word 'Oriental' because there is no such place as the Orient and it had this jacked-up connotation of British colonialism - they're the ones who coined the phrase. She looked at me, shrugged her shoulders and said it did not matter. Then she said, "..only you Americans need to be concerned with such things. As you all try to identify each other and get along." SNAP!!!! But you know, she's right. In answer to your question, I've heard them refer to each other as both.

What places would you recommend tourists visit?
Throw a dart at a map at an area in the world that interest you - I'm not being funny here. Really, people are mostly wonderful and fascinating and even with linguistic challenges you figure out how to communicate. One of the best trips I ever had happen as a result of a book that fell off a shelf in a book store and literally hit me in the head. The title read: Visit the Maldives... So I did. I highly recommend it.

Can you scan and post some pics?

Sure. I can be 'technically challenged' sometimes but I'll take a crack at it...

What other places have you been around Europe? France? Italy? Portugal?
I've been fortunate. I've been to most of Europe at this point in my life. Singapore, India and the Maldives in Asia. Kenya and North Africa. I think that's it.... Travel feeds the soul like nothing else. Truly, we live on an amazing planet!

It was fun talking to you Brightness....

Just found out the information.
And I'm really interested.

Can you tell me if you have different colors available? I don't see that information.

Hey FoxE:

I'm kind of uncomfortable speaking too much about my company on this board.
Ruffled a few feathers once or twice...

Drop me an email and we'll talk.
