Well, I just watched The Bernie Mack Show and I have to give it a C+. It's loosley based on a joke he did about raising his sisters kids.

I saw it and I laughed quite a bit. I think maybe he's feeling his way in a "clean" arena...but you know the bit about "hitting you in the head til the white meat show" was some funny shit! Did get a little sappy at times tho'...I'ma give that brotha a few more episodes before giving my grade.

My only problem was he talked to the camera "too much". I mean a little bit here and there is cool but he was starting to look like he was on The Real World or something. LOL

Okay, Talking to the camera was a lil on the MTV "Real World" tip, but Malcom in the Middle gets away with it and I know yall laught at that shyt....huh?

So, this show is on FOX and not the WB or UPN. Bernie is different than Steve Harvey, so I think the network is trying sumthing new.

I wanna give it a few more episodes as well. My grade is still a C+.

The first two shows were to get white america familiar with him. I laughed more than I've laughed at D.L.'s show & just as much as I did during Damon's show. I was familiar with the material but his new jokes will definitely make me laugh.

I caught the last 20 mins of the second show.. It was funny - especially when he was trying to get the little girl to get him some toilet paper! :D

I will watch again from the beginning - so far so good!

he has to continue to work on his e nun see a shun....i could tell that he has worked at it....also the makeup used....made him appear a little lighter in the face....several sappy parts were necessary for white america....

i like his confessional area...his den....that was a nice touch...the descriptions and special effects....i guess are ok....

i'll give it one more show.....


i wrote of the damon show at first...and now i really like it....so i'll see.

Que, I liked the little confessional thang too...It was cool that he had a little different format than most sitcoms plus I think folks that ain't familiar with his humor may need some clarification - like when he said that he wasn't really gonna kill those kids...airbody ain't ready...

put yourself in the position of the average viewer who is

white, male or female.....they love to watch us RUN, JUMP, and even like our comedy....but not when it has to be explained to them. they start to feel inadequate....and end up sayin "oh...that's just that ghetto slang"

well, you can't please everybody nor should you try...but it's kinda sad how so much pressure is put on our shows while wack-ass white sitcoms are all over the place...who's to say that they will keep the same format throughout the duration of the show?

This may just be a way to get middle america acclimated to Bernie's sense of humor...

nowadays being different is good because so much stuff is the same...at least with this show you can't really anticipate what's going to happen like most sitcoms...or it aint using an old rerun episode idea from shows in the 70's... it also doesn't have the canned laughter of an audience...so if there is any laughing then you know you weren't "coached" to do it...

the show has gotten great reviews from the critics...who are all white....

i thought it was good...admin the first episode was to set it up and the second was to bring him out more...i didn't understand why his wife kept saying she works for at&t though....

Okay, I missed the boat. I turned on the TV at 8pm and saw Malcom in the Middle and truned that shit off! then I checked the TV listings online and saw Bernie Mac at 9pm and for got to check 830pm listings...sot I thought there was only one show. Fox is wierd!

They had advertised it coming on at 8pm..not 830pm!

Okay, now about ya boy Bernie Mac! The show will not last like Steve Harveys show.

1. The cast is not strong enough to play off of.

2. Bernies comedy is too raunchy and he'll gtet tired of not saying what he really wants to say....just like the Richard Pryor Show!

3. Bernie has been in the business for over 20 years and he knows this is just a resume builder and a LARGE paycheck...two things they can't take away from him...so it makes since to do a season on Fox and have the show cancelled.

4. He knows we will support him and he's really a movie star...think about it. In all of the movies he's been in, his characters have been "Off the Hook" FUNNY AS SHYT!

It's scheduled to come on tomorrow. Most shows do repeats on a Holiday week since few people watch during the holidays.

The ONLY reason why I watch it is because the little one likes the show... she likes the kids~!! :)
