This name sounds so. . .so not right. . . but then all the final names weren't really that good.
Charlotte Bobcats
Charlotte Dragons
Charlotte Flight
Hmmm, tough choice. . .

The first Black Athletic Franchise, and they crap~out naming it... All those names stink, I guess his team promised the bottom... I can't see anyone wanted to wear that gear, I guess Bob Johnson took his BET mentality to the NBA, too... There was no thought put into this name, at all... The Bobcats will probably replace the Clippers as the NBA's worst team...

{. . .although I am still wondering what happened with that airline of his. . . didn't that venture ever come to pass?}
You know they had to make some b.s. justification for the name:
The Charlotte Bobcats logo draws on the distinctive ears of the cat, featuring the animal's sleek profile as if poised for attack with ears drawn back and fangs displayed. The cat profile and Bobcats word mark are retained within the outline of the logo, with the name Charlotte placed across the top. The design is unique to the NBA with its angular simplicity and modern feel.
The logo's robust shade of orange, referred to as Bobcat orange, captures the team's vibrant energy. Bobcat orange will be the team's primary color, which is unique to the NBA. Complementing the orange is a rich blue, referred to as Bobcat blue. Silver and black complete the team's color identity.
Bobcats are athletic, agile, sleek, hard-working and tenacious, attributes that closely reflect those found in a professional basketball team. Another common characteristic between cat and team: air time. Stealthy hunters, bobcats attack with the aid of an expansive 10-foot leap. Named for its short, bobbed tail, the bobcat is deceptive in appearance, looking tame in repose and becoming fierce and deadly in attack.
Bobcats, a species of lynx, are indigenous to North America and can be found throughout the Carolinas, including Charlotte, from the coast to the mountains. However, their nocturnal tendency, innate elusiveness and natural camouflage make them a rare sight.
All I can say is I hope he makes some good choices in management for that team or he will lose a grip. He's also wanting to buy a baseball team. . .possibly the Expos.
I wonder what he'll name it, should it come to pass ? :rolleyes:

He could have been more creative, I would have name it after something to do with Black History...
