Is it difficult to get a job in the retail industry if you have no cash handling experience?

For those who have worked in retail, what for you is the most annoying/difficult aspect of the job?

customer service burn-out....dealing with people with problems/issues and bullshit and they see you as an easy target sometimes and it can be a bit much to grin and bear it....in my experience its the customer that makes retail difficult....

i don't think handeling cash is an issue as long as you can move the product effectively....it only takes a few steps to learn how to handle money, the register/computer does the figuring anyway.

It's not hard here in VA. Long as you show that you have "people skills". In most cases you will not start working with cash when you first start working anyway.. They train you for that later. Unless you like me and know someone who workds for the company and you start out working in the cash office first....

I worked as a sales coordinator for over 12 years selling nursery furniture, children's clothing (infant - teenager) and toys.

Retail is a seasonal & high turnover job . . .it ain't hard getting on.

Most annoying/difficult aspect: You have to have a high tolerance to be able to deal with bullshit. . .Even when they're wrong, the customer is right.

If you can just do you time and don't succumb then you will be fine.

I have a gift at being able to block stuff out so even when people are trying to be smart-aleck towards me, it rolls right off my back because I could give a damn if they shop there again or not.

Had a lady come in one day drunk and Kissing on a teddy bear like he was a man. Using a mom's credit card and got mad because I wouldn't let her use it. Called me every name but the child of God then got madder because I put a smile on my face and told her and I hope you have a nice day and said it with a big kool aid smile...
