My son informed me last night what he wants for Christmas and it's just one thing.
A CD burner/record. He claims he can make some money with one of these.
Now...where is the best place to get one and what do they run.

cd burners are pretty inexpensive.
but it seems as though your son is planning to do some illegal stuff with the cd burner....copying and distributing music...unless it is music he is making.

It's illegal to copy CD's?

It is illegal to sell the stuff you burn. They are good to have if you want to make your own cd's.
Try Ciruit City, Best Buy, and Walmart.

Copyright infringement. You can get them on Amazon.com or at a CompUSA too. But you might want to talk to him about his "intentions" with the burner if ya know what I mean? :D

Stop making Tee scared. It's not like her son going to be setting up shop on the corner. He is going to sell cd's to his friends at school. By the way in chicago we got record stores with only bootlegs versions in it. Hell, that's where the police buy their shit from.

Every current CD I have was bought from the bootleg guy here at work.
It is illegal however this guy only sells to people he knows personally he's not hawking CD's out of the trunk of his car. I could burn my own CD's at home with a burner I just prefer to pay him $5 to do it for me.
I agree that you should talk to him about it Tee just to make sure he understands what it is he's doing.
I make alot of things on my computer and sell them for xtra money. It's not a big deal.

I asked him why he wants it, and he said he is tired of his friends asking to listen to his CD's....see my son keeps up with what comes out and when...the boy has a list...so when they come out he got it.
I am going to talk with him though about it. Now what do they run.
I'm telling ya'll boy preparing to move....trying to get me to buy all the big shit...even talked my mom into buying him a new bed.
But when he go...TV stays.

Tee...my man bought his burner two years ago for $189...it's one of the things that attracted me to him...i make about 20 cd's a week...i think it's a good thing for your son to get into...like djackso said, go to any record store in chi...hell, just be OUTSIDE minding your own business...and you'll find burned cd's
i think you should make him get involved in making compilation cd's for family members and friends as gifts rather than spending loads of money on jewelry...hell, if he makes good compils, i'll buy some off of him!
better he burn cd's than flags ;)

Won't be NO flag burner here.......
$200 isn't bad since that is all he wants.....then i gotta get a warranty and probably some blank CD's......I told my sister and she was like....just let me know when he get it, cause she want certain songs on one CD.....relatives....shit...mommie come first.:D

now that napster is gone, morpheus is a good starter program to get music, though their jazz, reggae, house and dusty choices leave a lot to be desired...

Yeah, I mean he won't get into any real trouble. I mean a 16 year old burnin' CDs ain't gonna get pinched. I was just saying that maybe Tee didn't know it was illegal (I mean it ain't slangin crack or nothin' like that) so she might wanna talk to him about it that's all.
