my mom pays a monthly fee and never sets it. do you really need it to stop theft or to feel safe?

i'm not suggest not to get it, but i think, unless i left my house unmanned for days at a time, i wouldn't need it. most good neighborhoods, thiefs think you got it anyway. insurance companies give discounts for just putting the sign out in the yard with no actual system installed.

what you'll spend in set up and yearly monthly fees, i'd hook up outside lights on the walkway and gutters and call it quits.

now if you and the mrs going to travel often, then perhaps.

it is for single women.
or
women that spend a lot of time alone in the crib....hubby always away on "business" :upto:

We have a ADT system and haven't had any problems as of yet. We have only had it for about 4 or 5 months though.

Yeah, this is it, Que...I'm not at the crib all the time. Mrs Admin's shedule is way different than mine and since this is the burbs, Moms suggested that we get it installed. Just singed the papers last night....installation next week.

Here is an inside tip. If someone was going to break in a ADT is not going to stop them. Most times the ADT guy does the breaking in. If it makes your wife feel safer then get it.

I know this D...I'm from the Hood:D Any good thief can steal anything he wants and the best time to rob a bank or break in a crib is 12 noon on a weekday:D...

Moms called and talked for 40 mins on the saftey of an alarm for the crib, and hey, it will give us a discount on the home insurence, so I'm down.

Now, I can talk shyt around the water cooler at the job...with Bob and Ted:D

Yeah right, because a thief would NEVER break into a house where a single man lives or where hubby is home on a regular basis.

Like admin pointed out, break-ins at noon? Working folks are usually not home at that time - single, married, male or female...Anybody can get got...

I'd go for it because you get the break on insurance plus whatever peace of mind you need.

No, Que, you didn't say NEVER but you did say who YOU think alarms are for...

No area is immune to getting robbed...

alarm security requires monthly fees, right? does the monthly fee = the discount/savings on the monthly insurance...?

also... how long will it take for the adt monthly subscription to add up to the ONE TIME cost to add iron gates to doorways and to windows that can remain on your home for ever and cannot be "canceled"?

admin, your area is very cool but personally, I would get an alarm no matter where I'm living. You know what our neighborhood looks like and just about everybody out here has 'em.

Mr. Que, I'll dispute whatever I feel needs disputing... :D

Think about it, wouldn't it make sense to have one in an area where folks know you have nice stuff? Nobody is trying to steal junk...

not sure why the statistics are as they are...

why most crime happens in the backyards of the those that would do the crime......not sure.

i guess thats why the lootin only occurred in the looters neighborhood.
