Question....
I have a 3 collections on my credit report that have been paid and account that has a few late payments on it, which is due to be removed next year. This is not holding up my house process, but i was wondering if anyone has ever written the companies asking them to remove the items and got them removed?
By the way, i got my scores up and over 600....i'm so proud of me.

I have paid the collection agency 20% of the bill to get it removed. Ask about.

The bills are paid.....been paid......i just want it removed from my credit.
I just wondered if anyone had every had it removed after payment but before the 5 or 7 years was up.

Yes. When I was trying to buy my car. I had about 3 things on there that I had already paid off, but they hadn't come off my report. I just wrote the creditor and they sent me proof that I had paid it off, and I sent that to the credit bureau. Mine were department store charges (3 of them) and one was a medical bill that I had paid off, but was still on my report.

Write the credit bureaus disputing the amount of times it was late or something small like that. If the creditor doesn't respond after 30 days which they won't because you paid them then the creditor will come off your report.

Experian deleted the item...hopefully transunion and Equifax follow suit. I didn't write the company, just called the credit bureau and disputed....

What purpose would it serve to have a PAID collection item removed from your report?
Does anyone know?
I thought that only unsatisfied items shown on your credit report affected a decision adversely.
I've seen home loan files where there are tax liens, judgments, etc. that are over 10 yrs. old.
I'm not quite up on how long certain things are permitted to be on a credit report. I wanted to think that when a report is pulled that it goes back 3-5 yrs.
I know there are some guidelines regarding bankruptcies but I am curious if anyone knows what the other guidlines are?
Like if I had a paid off Hustler porn credit account and I didn't want it showing on my credit report . . . would it be within my rights to have it removed if it were closed out?

Are we talking about mistakes to the credit report or a matter of wanting something accurate omitted from your credit history?
And if that's the case, that's what I was saying I didn't know you were able to do. . .have something accurate removed not an inaccurate item.
That would be a good piece of information to know though either way.

Brite.. Both! Every late payment on is a point off your credit score. Having an item deleted boosts your score. Creditors if paid want your score to be high so they can offer you more credit or don't want to waste man hours so they will not respond to inquiries. This makes your credit look better. All these credit repair do this for a fee.

It was reported accurately, and i just wanted it removed because it affected my rating and score since it reported 11 late payments.

Well, that's good information to know.
And when you say "credit repair" are you talking about those agencies that will evaluate your credit report for you and then charge you money?
Like Tee said. . .I would think you could do this on your own behalf but I don't guess everyone wants to fool with it.
I need to assess where I am. . .the last I figured, I was going to have to "create more pay history" since basically all I have left is student loans and I closed out the credit cards I had a few years back.
I don't have anything really recent to speak of.

I thought it would be a hard task to do on the phone...you know, push that button, then this, then wait, push more buttons and more waiting...and it really wasn't the case. I think the most i've every waited was 5 minutes. And each call went smoothly. I was always under the impression you had to write folks and i hate doing that.
Bright, you don't have a car loan?
I try to always keep a loan with my credit union, nothing big but around the $2500 mark with a 2 year payment.
