AA Quota in sports?

Whites about 70 %
Blacks about 13%
Hispanics about 12%
Asians about 5% (?)

Should we have the players in our sport teams to represent our POPULATION?

You know...3 blacks per basketball team? 7 whites per basketball team...

3 blacks per hockey team, rugby team etc.

Just a question....:D

Who is going to win? Who has the most talent? Who is going to get the most asses into the seats?

Whoever it is, he wants, no matter the color of his skin.

basketball....WHO is making the money in the league?

football....WHO is making the money?

HINT HINT -- it's not the players!

the most qualified get the positions...in sports.....but that is because of obvious domination....AND...white folks don't want to watch someone like themself play football......imagine if GLADIATORS of old were actually the ROMAN CITIZENS.....naw...of course not...so they play football or whatever and gain their financial FREEDOM......some of them.

According to normal people...are the atheletes being paid well? The white actors of the hit show "Friends" are making mega bucks...but what they make is small compaired to what the network makes. Same with Oprah. Same with Bill Gates. Microsoft makes WAAAAY more money than Bill Gates. But Bill, Oprah, Michael J, Master P, Ice Cube, Denzel, Woopie, Mya, Shaq, Colby etc...are MAKING BIG BUCKS! There is no denial there...right?

So we already know, because of the past Olympics, that the Croaitian basketball team proved that a all white team can be a formidable opponent. We know that white people CAN play basketball...

We also know that the richest people, mostly white, represent about 1 % of the nation's wealthy. So white or not, MOST people are not wealthy.

(the gladiator comment...it's somewhat of a stretch...Blacks can choose to play or not...)

So the question remains...

Too many sports players, movie stars and entertainers get more money than the vast majority of us Americans. It is typically those players (and/or their family) that end up screwing up their own money. So they usually do not gain freedom...but they do get charged for tax evasion...:D

I am one of those people that believe, asside from the 'fast twitch' muscle thing, that most blacks excell in sports because they work hard and practice.

Asside from everything else...

Part of the purpose of AA is to help create a even playing field...because of past injustices. In this imaginary situation...if we are to sing the songs of equality and inclusion...do we need AMERICA to see the real face of America...one with a team that contains all major races...and maybe one half indian/half Samoan in every team?

Most blacks are NOT good at sports...

in one sentence you say that AA is to make up for past injustices......

then you say that AA should apply to sports....

actually....my buddy (starving actor) would love it if AA applied to acting....but it does not. because white folks only want to see blacks in certain roles...and white folks are the ones that go to the most movies...because white folks have more expendable cash to go to these functions BECAUSE...they typically have better jobs.

so it comes down to JOBS.

there are serious issues in sports...even still. black quarterbacks have to be MVP caliber before being able to keep a job....white running backs must be SPECIAL to keep a job...heck...get a job...same for receivers. same things happen in soccor....latin players are given the edge.....having grown up playin the sport....

sports levels the playing field most times because it is less objective....ie. whats your 40 time...how fast are you...what's your vertical... you can't fake these things.

Interesting points.

However the purpose of AA is to do the following:

1) Make up for past injustices that have put some women and some minorities at a significant disadvantage.

2) Help to encourage companies to represent the true racial nature in the workplace.

So I am asking the question...to more accurately represent the true makeup of the USA, should we make more of an effort to show the true racial makeup in sports? We know that we can find some white folks that can jump. Also, we can find some white folks that can play soccer. Maybe we can import some white guys from Europe.

As for acting,

Your movie theory does not seems all that accurate. Mainly because eventhough movies cost about 10 bucks, most black people can afford that. Let's not make us worse off than we already are...

There are PLENTY of movies out there for blacks to see. But do we go to the movies to see them? I guess not! Maybe we CHOOSE to spend our money on other things.

i don't think we are tracked as well as we SHOULD be... mainly because... when we are sent journals to complete for research... we throw them away and conclude that someone is watching us and gettin into our business.

should this means that AA is needed in the marketing and research industry?

can you imagine white research companies going door to door to combat the black insecurity and asking them for the anwsers to their questions?

that leads to the question of "do they care about us at all?"

then you're lead back to the needs for AA all the way around incase a black person is looking for funding to start up that research company and have access to minority funding or get that job and spear head such a project... etc...

now...people should be allowed to dominate....but the question is...do they have an equal opportunity to dominate? or is their ability...to dominate halted (through poorer education) at an early age?

sports is difficult to discriminate....quantitative values of HOW HIGH, HOW FAST, HOW...much....can't be faked.

I spoke to someone a few months ago and at first, they thought that I was Que...

Pretty funny, huh!?

But you are correct. This is somewhat of a setup...but a fun setup...

So how about grades and standardized tests? Could they show "how high-someone's vocabulary and math skills is?", "how fast -can someone answer a bunch of questions...correctly" etc? (Standardized tests...I have a feeling that this issue will need to be in its own thread..:D ) So you say that poor education in 2003 is keeping blacks down? Do blacks know what they need to do to succeed?

But I digress...

So if white guys cannot jump (we KNOW Croatians can jump...and they are about as white as they come...), then the NBA go on a search for those whites that CAN jump? Clearly, we should be able to find SOMEONE white that can jump...or a black guy that can play rugby and hockey...just so we can have the kind of racial makeup that more easily fits the image of America?
