In my efforts to live a healthier lifestyle, I have been eating lots of salads...

But also, I have been eating those meal replacement bars...

The bars that I eat are high in protein and low in carbs/sugar. I ran into the Xenadrine bar (yes, the same people who makes Xenadrine pills that have that stimulant that messes up your heart). http://www.cytodyne.com/products/xenadrine_bar/default.asp This bar is on sale at Target for under a buck...pretty cheap for this kind of bar...

And this bar is pretty tastey!

I have tried other bars that have been pretty good:

1) PowerBar "Protein Plus" sugar free
2) Carb-Solutions

And some others.

Are there any other good bars out there?

Youse a damn lie!!! Alls I know is, everytime somebody mention a damn protein bar they talkin bout it's good, you go out and buy it and that shit is hella nasty.

Unh unn I ain't buying it.

The ONLY meal replacement (protein) bar I like is PowerBar Harvest Toffee Chocolate Chip.

Damit, Myst!!!!

But...well, you are proably right. Maybe my taste buds have been fried or something. If a person is used to eating lots of sugar...then it might be pretty nasty! But I thought it tasted pretty good!...

Try out the Xenadrine bar...it's not too bad...the flavor is "Chocolate Peanut".

The PowerBar flavor that I had last was "Caramel Apple"...

The main thing is that these bars can send ya to the poor house..fast!

Naw man I'm cool, I ain't wasting my hard earned $2.25 on that mess.

And I don't mess around w/Chocolate Peanut anything, eeeewwww yuck or that Yogurt covered strawberry

Nope

Not gone do it.

Brings me back to the days when folks was talkin bout Designer Protein being the shit, so I take my ass to the store and buy some for $15. That was 5yrs ago, that shit still under the cabinet.

Naw, umm, if they have it on sale at GNC I might check it out one day. Xenadrine pills neva worked for me.

? Since when you done heard of a protein bar containing ephedra? It's sposed to be a meal, ephedra ain't no meal.

Imma just stick to Ensure when I need a pick me up.

Make sure you drink a lot of water w/those bars. You gone end up dehydrated AND constipated.

Oh and about the sugar, the problem is, whatever they put in them is too sweet. Nasty. Taste like how boo boo smells.

Oh but please everyone do not let me stop you from eating meal replacement bars.

Especially the PowerBar Harvest brand. But the Toffee Chocolate Chip is hard to find in stores.

Yes, the Xenadrine bar does not have any stimulants.

Which is kinda funny, because when think of Xenadrine, I think "EPHEDRA" and dying sports figures...

This bar claims to have...

Clarinol...."Clinically Proven Fat-Loss Power!"

What's Clarinol?

Constipated, huh? Now you tell me!

More advice...and go easy on the cheese too! Sheesh!

And I must admit...those bars do not look very good.

But the Xenadrine bar is less than 1 dollar! Myst and Que should try it...

I know of no GOOD tasting meal replacement bars. I tried these ones made by SlimFast but I just stick to their lactose free fruit drink and have a piece of fruit, granola or Nutrigrain bar.

Bright,

Why don't you start a thread on what you eat and how it affects you. I would like to know. I might learn something. (I was going to send you an IM, but your mailbox is full)

Far be it from me to be giving nutrition advice, but when I am looking for something to replace a meal, I use something that isn't exactly a bar....it isnt made from anything but the pure forces of nature, and has existed throughout the ages, nourishing mankind at less than 100 calories per serving. Comes in it's own package, and is way cheaper than any of the items that others market to line their own pockets. It goes by the same name, but also comes in different varieties ....here's one of them: Come to think of it....it's a pretty simple solution, isn't it?

that I posted, that's if they are still around.

I read a lot of books so my "theories" are constantly changing and being updated. But I maintain the same basic philosophy.

You just don't know. . .I can blow this Health Forum up.

I'll start posting some articles, information and recipes from some other boards I visit.
