We are less than one month away from the tax deadline, are your done?
How did you do them and do you do your own?
Are you expecting a check or are you sending the check?

Like Melotic said if you make less than $100,000 then you should be getting a refund.

getting back about 80 bucks, paying out 42. The tax man is going nuts, telling us we have to cut all exemptions. I said, well isnt it good not to owe hundreds, or thousands, and also not to float a loan to the government when it can better serve you in the bank? He looked at me like I just called his daughter a ho.
I don't care. We expunged a metric ton of debt and have a 3.3% mortgage. All tht's missing is one of them lil care packages from heaven that poops and pee pees more than it eats. I got no complaints.

Juicy,
You might wanna check the status of your return. This seems way too long.

I usually wait until the 15th. . .and drive it to the post office before midnight. . .that's been my mode for years. I am thinking this year I might have them done by the 9th or I'll be doing them while sitting at work the morning of the 15th. Also, I'm not really pressed, it's no big thrill to me either, never has been. . .it's better to get the money later in the year anyway in my opinion.

I checked the status this morning. It said that my refund was mailed on March 21st and if I don't receive it or a letter by the 18th of April to call back. Hopefully I will get it this week.

I just did my daughters taxes online. Its easier than I thought. Guess it was easy for me because she has nothing to claim really. Its just her, no kids, no house, car, insurance, medical bills (I pay that). So it was really easy. She had two little jobs in 2002 and she is getting 53.00 back. She will blow that in one day.

I can't put it off any longer. . .it's almost 8 p.m. let me do these taxes. . .I'm trying to e-file but I've got the paper version ALMOST filled out. . .I have to go to the post office for a Schedule 2 if this doesn't go through.
I might skip the state income tax. . .well no, I'll work on that about 10 p.m. at the latest.

I was ALMOST foiled since I couldn't find my 2001 return. . .and that was the very last thing to put in before sending it to the IRS.
However, I put on some Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz and remembered that I was sitting at work last April doing my taxes long-hand.
So, I went to one of my 2nd lay-off boxes (not to be confused with the boxes from 1st time I was laid off) and voila. . .I found it!
I hope the IRS accepts it. . if not then I guess. . .Uh, I don't know what I guess. Perhaps keep the long-hand form ready to mail.
Hmmm. . .I guess I'll go find the website and file some Ohio state taxes.
I know you all love reading my Tax Day saga so I will continue later. . .:p
P.S. I guess now I can answer that I got a nice size return. . .almost 5x more than I got last year. This will take a nice chunk out of my remaining loan payment. . .I'm so happy!!!! :D
Now let me see how much I probably owe these bitches from the state of OHIO. :blah:

I've been online chatting about 45 minutes. . .I guess I should try calling this number again.
I guess if I don't get through I'll either not file or go to the post office.
Tough decision.

We finally got a letter from the IRS. Our refund check was returned to the IRS because it had the wrong zip code on it. We had to send a signed form back with the correct address and all. Its funny that the letter got to us but the refund check didn't:confused: They both had the wrong zip code.:(
You'll get it faster if you do the direct deposit thing.
Most folks don't know that you are able to take up to 10% of your AGI as a charitable contribution each year with any excess being rolled over to the following year.
I think the 10% rule corresponds to tiding. If your Christian then you should try dropping that much each year or something.
