shampoo and conditioner....i usually buy big things of motions every five or six months...so thats about 20 twice a year. now that im not relaxing...that takes some of the expense out.

i rarely get my hair done...if i do...my girlfriend will cut it and style if for about 25 bucks.

i also will get the occasional moisturizers...ponytails.

i say i MIGHT spend 150.00 a year.

If I split it up monthly, I would say $50 a month.

. . .the hair business is basically a racket in my opinion.

If I buy the products and do my own hair, I can pay for in 6-9 mos., maybe a year, what it would have cost me for 2 months of visits to the salon. $160-$200 When I think in terms like that. . .hair salons ain't much but a rip-off, in my eyes. I can think of way more important things to spend $200 bucks on besides a hairdo that isn't designed to last or requires so many restrictions to make it last.

I recently went to the hair dresser and spent $45 for something that would have cost me about $12 - $16 if I'd done it myself.

So for me, I would have to say I spend perhaps $30 a month on avg. some months more when it's time to stock up on shampoos & conditioners.

200 a month easy.. going to the salon every two weeks, tipping those broads, touch ups, rinses etc etc. Then when I got rinses, they would charge more than what was on the price list because of the length and thickness of my hair. Well advertise that, BITCH!!:fu

Now I would say I spend about 40 on Average, if that. I visit my loctitian about every other month

Because I am a Licensed Cosmetologist I do my own hair. I have a stylist and she and I get into it all the time. I tell her that most salons charge their customers too damn much for basic stuff. Me on the other hand I would rather charge a lower price and have customers that are satisfied than to try and keep up with the Jones'.

I had a customer a few weeks ago that wanted her hair cornrowed straight to the back, something that I only charge $45.00 (with extensions), because she didn't know any better someone charged her $175.00, and that was a total rip off.

Here's some words of wisdom:

A bottle of color cost $3.29 the average woman spends $60.00 - $100.00 on color. So, the next time you get your hair colored buy your own, see how much they charge you then.

most places here don't use products brought in. When I was in the shop Friday a girl came in wanting her hair colored and it was a color the sylist didn't have she was going to be charged the same price...
