The French Quarter is great fun. Make sure you go the Cafe Du Monde and have a cup of coffee and a few beignets! They are donut-like served with powdered sugar, yum! Jackson Square if beautiful. If you have the time check out the Garden District. Very historical and gorgeous houses line the streets. A lot of the jazz clubs have expensive cover charges, but listening on the street can almost be as fun. Choose carefully. Have a great time!

There is a restaurant across from Jax Brewery, I think it is spelled Masparos, and it has the cheapest food I've been able to find in the quarter. Very good too. Chart House is expense but wonderful restaurant. Court of 2 sisters jazz brunch, Pat O'Brien's) but if the weather is nice I would do both.

there are too many things to see and do in New Orleans. I have been many times but when I tried to show my wife, who had never been there, it ended up just being a hurried jumble. My advise:
1)When you get to your room, if its close, go walk around the quarter for a little while. Try to get to Pat O'Brien's.
2) The next morning, get to Jackson Square tothe Cafe DuMonde for those beinets and cafe au lait.
3)Get one of those buggie rides. Negotiate with the driver. They can give the best tour in a short time because they know where they're going. Walking tours are also available but you'll miss alot. The buggie drivers also know where to stay away from, and there are places like that near the quarter, especially the cemeteries.
4)Eat lunch afterward almost anywhere in the area. You almost can't go wrong.
5)Go to the Garden district. Here a walking tour might be a good idea.
After this, you'll have seen enough of New Orleans to know that you want to come back!
Hope this helps.
