Your vacation~??
With what has happened recently, would you cancel a vacation that you had planned since last year. . in which you were to leave in two or three weeks via aircraft~??
You guys heard me say this. . . I had planned to take my little girl to Disney World, Fla. for her fifth birthday next month. . her birthday is October 7th. . we were scheduled to leave that day~!!
However, my Mom and I canceled the trip yesterday. . until sometime next year~!! :(
Would you have done the same~??
I know you cannot escape death. . and when it's your time. . it's just your time. . . and that I could die sitting right here at my computer~!! :(
However, I would just like to know what the FAM thinks about this decision we have made~!! Keep in mind that when this all happened on Tuesday, they actually closed down Disney World~!! :(
(Not really sure how I will explain this to the little one... but, I will make up for it. . . somehow. . . with day trips or something~!!)

#1 - If i had gotten up the nerve to fly and had a ticket prior to this happening, i would not be getting on the plane. Tickets would be solf, given back, whatever.......
#2 - Now that this has happened it might take an act of Congress to get me on a plane within the next year or so.
My fear of flying has just tripled.
Yes i would have done the same.
Thank goodness the Winter HUSHNIC is planned for VA!

Why exactly did you decide not to go?
Was it a fear of flying or a fear of further terrorists activity? Or was it just that in the wake of things you are not up to a happy trip?
I would have waited until the end of the week before making a decision. Yesterday was a very emotional day and I think I would have waited for further details as well as seeing how things are going to play out before making a final decision. What that decision would be would depend on what (if anything) happens the remainder of this week.
I mean at this point everything world-wide is still so up in the air. Who knows by the beginning of next week a full scale war could be declared...or suspects could be in custody saying Bin Laden is a hero but did not direct them to do this...or I don't know or anything. I think I would have waited.
I saw on the news today that travel agents are being very understanding and accomodating to people during this time.

All of the above~!! :(
And, I usually love to fly. . . I've been flying since I was a little girl~!! Maybe I should have waited. . .
However, I'm content with my decision and look forward to doing something else with my time off~!! :)
Thanks~!!

i think it was a mistake.
if we all do that...the terrorist...have won.
i don't fault you for what you did, but you did ask my opinion.
Alot of things are closed down...for the weekend, but by next month...the new precautionary measures that they are already putting in place will be well seasoned. At this rate...we'll be going from work to home and back...that's it.

I am not canceling anything....October 5, I am going to Atlanta! I haven't seen my child in a year, and I am not going to let what happened stop me.
I don't know what you believe, but I believe that if it's your time to go then its your time.

Strangely enough, now is probably one of the better times to travel. Especially since they're instituting tighter security methods.

Security is so tight right now.. It is the best time to fly...
I would not have cancelled my trip.. But you best believe I would have been praying the whole way and suspicious of everyone on board! :p

No, I don't think I would cancel. . .I know the airlines and other companies have lost some business behind this so I look for there to be some phenomenal airfares which I might just have to take advantage of.
I know the initial shock makes you swear off flying and I partially joked about it myself but with the passage of time, I know I could be able to fly again. . . but does the thousands of car accidents a year stop you from driving? I mean you can control your car but you can't control what someone else is doing with theirs. . .
Like it's been said before, all things are in God's hands and to walk around with fear of death in your heart goes against what is taught. . .true you don't flirt with death like a fool but neither should you let it have you in it's paralyzing grip.
