With all the search and rescue going on in NY/VA, they have established several relief funds.
Do you plan to contribute?
Would you send clothing or supplies?
If you were asked to come to NY or VA to help in any kind of way, would you?

Tee...
I did think about giving blood, but as soon as I got my mind thinking about that...the local news here saud that they had enough blood. Plus is was gonna ba a 4 hour wait to give blood.
Money? I'm strapped, but then I thought about donating $2, so I might do that via Paypal.
I wanna do something...just my nature to help, but we all need help right now. Don't we....

Give the blood if you don't mind the wait...they are going to need it.
As for money, that is your choice.
Here they are asking folks to bring to certain hotels, clothing, food, batteries, bottled water, socks, gloves, battery chargers for cell phones, anything to help with the rescue.
I saw on the news today, 1st graders handing out sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, with little hearts they made with there own messages, to doctors, nurses and folks standing in line to give information about the loved ones.
Now if that could touch a grown person heart.
My job has a fund in which they are collecting money, cash, coin, check in one of those big water bottles. 3 were filled in a few hours they say. I have never given money like that before, but today i did.

To give because I know that normally in these situations the United Methodist Church takes a mission offering each Sunday that goes to disaster relief of any kind world wide.
We were told during service this morning that this would be the case with this situation. I gave into it during service last week (my pay week) as I have every week that I get paid along with my tithes.
I am anemic I can't give blood.
I know that some of you will think I'm phucked-up but I'll just live with that.
Everyday when I go to New York, I see plenty of black people and other kinds of people too, but mostly I see people that look like me. I would go as far to say that there are a whole lot of black people in NYC. Sooooooooooo when I look at the coverage of this whole event, I'm looking to see some black faces: Cops, firemen, voluntary medical or rescue workers, but for some damn reason I don't see any, maybe one or two.
Then I ask myself why don't I see more black folks on TV. You know fallen heroes and all that good stuff. Then it hit me, those racist motherphuckas don't hire black folks in those jobs. They save those secure, good paying jobs for folks that look like them. That’s why I don't see many black faces related to this event, just white, white, and more white.
Now will I gave my money or blood....I don't think so! Maybe "Hip Hop has heart fund" If that shit happened in Harlem, Compton(sp), Watts, or Newark would the help be pouring in????? Think about it.
I know I should be able to look beyond the color line, but damn I don't think America would respond the same way.

I was thinking the same damn thing but I wasn't gone say it.
I do know of some blacks involved. A local woman from Greenville who was on the news as missing. The news station here paid for her family to travel to NY to look for her. She had called on the day of the attack and said she was on the 1st floor and was okay. That was before the 2nd plane hit and the buildings crumbled. Her family had not heard from her since.
Well they found her alive, unconcious in a local hospital. Thank God.
I did give, but I said the day after the tragedy that it bothered me that we have homeless people living in the streets everyday but they were able to raise $100,000 for this event in less than an hour. :(
I kind of see it like the battered woman syndrome.
She lives with an abusive husband. She should leave but she thinks it's better than no husband. Then a family tragedy happens and he wants them to unite as one. She wants to but all she can think of is the black eye he gave her last week. And the fact that when this tragedy is over....he's probably gone hit her again. :(
I love my country and I did donate to this cause...but in the pit of my stomach. I can't get over that black eye either. :( :(

You won't give blood or money to save trapped and dying people because they're not black? Because they don't look like you?
So you're b-type or o-positive or a-negative is "too black" for a little white girl whose father is praying for her to come back to him?
because she's white? because somehow an indiscriminant attack on your country is racial in nature to you?
I'm sorry CD, normally I feel you, but that was the most disappointing and inhumane thing I've read in a long time, in any form of media, from anybody.

Has it occurred to any of you that Black people were affected by this as well?
Daily News had photos of people who are missing. I have seen Black faces among those photos. I have seen Black people on television in the hospital, suffering from injuries. I have seen Black people mourning over the loss of friends and family members.
Yes, we do have racism in this country. But, those bastards are after every American, no matter what color they are. This is a big problem because the life of every American is at stake .
It doesn't matter to me what kind of people are hurt, dead, or giving their right arm to help those in need. All that matters is that we, as a nation, are working towards getting through this tragedy.

What's color/race got to do with it~????!!!!! :( What about all of us being HUMAN~?? (Ok, that was two questions. . . I'm sorry)
I know that it's not pretty, but it's a tough nut to swallow.....:(
I don't think it was an indiscriminate act as well. They planned to hit the all mighty cracker right where every one in the world would see it.
No one thinks that this has racial undertones??? You never heard the term "sand niggas"???
dns70 It's ok that you don't feel me on this. You have not walked in my shoes or have seen the things I've seen here in the USA and the world. I don't know about you, but I don't have to search around the world to get good examples of inhuman acts against people of other colors or religions. I can stay right here in the good old USA and get all the examples I'll ever need in life. Unfortunately, I'm somewhat a product of my environment.

Cat-Daddy....smoochies babe, yep it's a (Phucked-up ) comment but oooooohhhh so true.......thru all the coverage you can count the flys in the buttermilk, but I know we are down there, buried in the rumble, on the planes, at the pentagon...and once again I say my heart and prayers are with all....
I only ask one question??? If the plane had a detour and they managed, to miss WTC, or it hit in the residential area..say HARLEM or inner city DC or Maryland..and it destroyed black communities....1000's of black-folk dead!!!!..will BUSH call out the troops???...will those same faces we see now,, will they continue there rescue mission, will we get relief from all over the country?? will they monoplize the air-waves with telethons and raising money to rebuild our LIVES???..hhhhhmmmm
:( :( .....DNS, I don't think so.....but give on my brotha...
PEACE!!

What if those planes would have hit black communities and wiped out thousands of black people, would it be on all the networks? Would there be flags on everyones car? Would it be "God bless America?" or would it be.....barely a blip on the media radar?
I don't think so.
But because whites are the way they are, does not mean that we have to be like them.
I will do what I can to help, and when America becomes AmeriKKKa again, I will thank god that I live in a country where I have the right to disagree with the way things are, and do what I can to change it.
