Something tells me I'll be in a size 6 by the end of this year ;)

I am feeling so good, and I have so much ENERGY. Yippee!!! I should try out for cheerleading.

Everyday, I've been getting up and doing something. Exercise in the morning and in the evening.

I am taking an aerobics class at my church.

For the most part constant working out is not for me. I do some things here and there but I've never been an athlete type person and I doubt I ever will be.

I am trying to start the year right by making a commitment to be healthier. (Are you listening God?) I got tae bo tapes, donna richardson kick boxing and I bought a Nordic Track last weekend...it is hard but it only takes 21 days to form a habit and it's only been a few days! Wish me luck!

being an athlete is not the point....but aerobics will strenthen your heart....and help u to live longer. it certainly won't put any of us in the olympics. i encourage that we all think about our cholesterol and hearts and bodies...as well as our mind and spirit.

Well, I love working out, but for some reason, I am not able to get through my usual routine these days. I put on Leslie, and could barely get through 15 minutes of it.....God I used to be able to do the entire 45 minutes...*sigh*

Strangely enough, even at my weight, my blood pressure and cholesterol are low. But I just don't ever want to get to the point that I have to give up salt. So I eat very little salt now, and I have given up fast food.

I know what the point is Que. Some exercise is always better than no exercise. I am doing that.

However I have never been the athletic type. I didn't play sports in high school or college and I don't like to sweat. So any exercise by me will be minimal. That's all I'm saying. I'll never be one of those people in the gym daily. Never. It ain't me.

How is everyone coming along?

I am not going to lie, I haven't been working out that much lately. I think losing that tape, has put a damper on my mood.

But uh, I'm starting to notice a difference in my appearance

I put on some jeans that I bought in July and they were falling off of me  ...I couldn't wear them.

I had one pair of jeans that I was able to take off w/o unbuttoning them

What lil booty I had gained in the past 5 years is now gone, so I am back to having noassatall

People keep asking me what kind of diet I'm on. I just made a concious decision to stop eating certain things, and they don't even taste good anymore either.

Since not eating sandwiches everyday, I now realize that they used to make bloated.

I admit it, I haven't gone to the gym this week. Last time I went, I got pissed off because one of the snotty white women puposely bumped me. But she didn't realize that I had seen her coming and was a solid brick wall when she bumped me. I gave her some strong eye contact and asked her if I could help her. After she scurried away I realized that perhaps I may be at the wrong gym.

This gym was built by the county park district. So it has to be accessible to all. This is a state of the art gym so all the little snooty white women are angry because low income people (meaning black) people have the right to be there too, and can get scholarships to go. There were articles protesting it in the newspaper and everything. As a result, anytime any of these people see someone black, they take for granted that we are one of "those people" and try to do little nasty things.

I have tried very hard to be nice to everyone but have just about had enough of this bullshit. I pay my 50 bucks a month like the rest of them heffas, and I am not going to stand being treated like that. I just hate having to let the nigga in me come out.

mystkev
03-19-2003, 12:22 PM

What are your goals for your upper body?

I have this perpetual one of trying to have arms like Angela Bassett did in the Tina Turner & Stella movies.

My shoulders, biceps and back are in good shape. . . .none of that BRA or ELBOW OVERHANG but I can't manage to get those cut up looking triceps.

I am losing my mind over that. . .I don't want bulk or just the 'no-flabby-skin' look. . .I want some definition to compliment the biceps & shoulders.

I guess I need to do some program modification.

I also want some cut arms, not as cut as Angela Basset's though. I have problems getting definition though. Also my upper back, right under my bra strap I still have a roll there.

So I would like to tone upper and lower back, abs, and get definition out of the arms. My body idol right now is Malinda Williams from Soul Food, firm but feminine.

Monday snack--strawberries or apple; lunch--green leaf lettuce salad, tomato, cucumber topped w/chicken breast; snack--apple or celery; Dinner--Turkey parts, brocalli, spinich

Tuesday snack--same; lunch--fruit salad, grilled chicken breast on lettuce; snack--same; dinner--orange ruffy, tuna or swordfish, brocalli, spinich

Wednesday snack--same; lunch--same as Monday; snack--same; dinner--chicken, brocalli, cauliflower

Thursday snack--same; lunch--chicken ceasor salad or fruit salad & strawberries; snack--same; dinner--lamb flank & brocalli or lean ground beef on lettuce & tomato w/grilled onions & brocalli

Friday snack--same; lunch--fresh fish (no salmon) and salad; snack--same; dinner--seafood (not fried) or chicken with veggies

Saturday Breakfast--Egg white omlet w/veggies, no cheese and turkey sausage; snack--same; lunch fish or chicken 1 cup of past w/red sauce with chicken only; snack--same; dinner--chicken & veggies

Sunday breakfast--egg white omlet w/veggies 1 teasp. cheese and turkey sausage; snack--same; lunch--veggie salad; snack--same; dinner--lean ground steak or beef flank (2x per month) OR chicken & brocalli & spinich

Substitutions for lunch: Lean cuisine or smart one with no dark sauce, pasta or potatos.

Add ons: Dressing--vinegrette's, vinegar only, mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, seasonings

NO SUGAR, MAYO, FRIED FOODS OR MEXICAN FOOD

Right now she isn't letting me have any starches except for the wheat toast in the morning. She said after the two weeks, she will gradually start giving me starches.

The ab routine I was looking at has a 10 minute cardio warm up (they suggested jumping rope as an alternative), doing the abdominal circuit and then following up with a 20-30 minutes of fat-burning interval program (alternating between 65% & 85% maximum heart rate).

I FINALLY got off my ass and exercised last night. Oooh it felt so good. For those that like weightlifting videos check out Kiana Tom's videos.

I exercised to Power last night, the first segment is supersets, the second trisets, and the last one is plyometrics. It really got me sweating and feeling energized.

This morning I got up at 4am and worked out to the Firm Cardio Sculpt w/light and no weights (didn't want to strain anything). That felt good too.

It is possible to workout too much Deja. If you workout too much, your body will respond by trying to store more for the next workout. You could be training you body to retain fats for energy.

So I would suggest that if you want to workout everyday, do different things. You can do cardio one day, and do some light weights the next day.

dejavu

yeah, I know I workout a different body part each day. Monday, Wednesday, Friday...I work out on my own in the gym. Cardio, abs, back, and shoulders alternating. On Tuesday and Thursday I work out with a trainer on calves, legs, and abs.

The thing is, I like working out, I have fun, I laugh. I just hate getting started (finding my exercise clothes  ) So I force myself.

Right now I'm in a exercise challenge, so the fact that I have to report to people whether or not I exercised is encouraging. I don't want to let folks down :(

I only exercised 2x last week, and had to report that (we are supposed to exercise 5x). If they can do it, I can do it too.

You just have to make it part of your life. Same way you made getting up and going to work a part of your life. You won't be able to do it if you have to constantly motivate yourself to go. It shouldn't even be a question of motivation, just habit.

Personally, I've set specific days that are "gym days". Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are my gym days, so I plan accordingly. Sure I'd rather be at home relaxin' instead of gruntin' and groanin' at the gym, but now it's part of life.

I have been slacking so bad this summer! Because the routine is disrupted since noodle is out of school. During the year, it is so easy to pack my workout bag at night and throw it in the car, take noodle to school in the morning, drive to the gym, workout and then go to work.

Now it's like I want to do fun stuff. When I do go to the gym, I spend my hour floating in the pool, or socializing while I am on the treadmill. Not much of a workout.

If I do go walk the trail at the park. . .I'm too busy ogling the men without their shirts on. . .the guys in the gym like to be all stingy with their shit! :blah:

Man, that is nothing nice! I went today, and thought it would be nice to splash around before work, figured it wouldn't be very difficult, and I wouldn't feel so guilty about my slacking off all summer.

I don't know where they got this instructor from, but her little happy ass got in the water, and it was all over! I am still hurting from that class, and I cannot believe it!

Can't wait to go tomorrow.
