I go to work this morning. I work in an office building near Times Square. Of course, there were very little people there, and the atmosphere is less jovial than usual.

About two hours later, I get the news from my boss that there was a "rumor" of a bomb threat. I'm sitting at my desk, shocked. One of my co-workers yells at me to get the hell out of there. We all get the fuck outta Dodge, I'm running down the stairs, from the 29th floor to the lobby. I'm scared like shit. Luckily, everyone made it out the building OK. We are told to move across the street, a block or two away from the buildings. I don't want to risk anything, so I hop on the bus to go home.

When I get home, my mom tells me that there were bomb scares all over the area, including some clown with fake wires all over him in Grand Central Station. Of course, the station and the adjacent building was evacuated. The cops chased after and captured the sick bastard. I have also heard that kids were posing fake bomb threats just to get out of school! WTF is this?!?!

I am completely disturbed, scared, and angry by all of this nonsense. I can't believe that these deranged fools would even consider doing this in light of this senseless and terrible tragedy. I hope those assholes are put in prison for the rest of their lives! We are trying to move on, trying to heal from this catastrophe, and these bastards want to get a rise out of this? I have nothing else to say.

I feel you Rai,

It's sad that we have so many people in this country whose main concern is themselves.

Here in SC our governor passed a special law vowing to prosecute any and all gas gaugers (sp) and we've also had reports of telemarketers with fake charities calling getting credit card numbers for donations to assist the victims.

U not the only one.. My building 40th and 6th Ave near Times Square got a bomb scare also. I'm appalled that the security desk did not tell us over the interom to evacuate. Someone called the girl behind me and asked her y were we still there. Uhhh no one told us. what's the point of using the intercom to tell us they are doing a test if you are not going to use it when its really needed. Luckily I had only 7 flights of stairs.

People r just dumb.. and think that everything is a damn joke.

I think this experience separates the good people from the bad people, as strange as this may sound. When tragic events happen, that shows a person's true colors.

Credit Union Robbed & Bomb Threat
Reagan Building evacuated & Bomb Threat
White house Evacuated, streets surrounding white house closed.

My sister is right across the street from the White House and she said it is crazy out there.

DC is in a terror right now.

From the EUR

EBAY PULLS TRAGEDY-CONNECTED ITEMS
Online auctioneer pulls WTC memorandum.

(Sep. 14, 2001) *Online auctioneer eBay is attempting to crack down on posts aimed at capitalizing on the Tuesday morn's tragedy. The website has so far removed most items connected to the now-destroyed World Trade Center and the Pentagon, including a WTC postcard with a starting bid of $15,099.99 and a book about the towers asking for $25.

Damn! What some people won't do for money. :beating

this is but one success of the terrorrist...

in the past ... the pentagon would average about 75 bomb threats every day (according to a friend in the DPS)....in the past...they would automatically rule out 74 of them....then determine that the 75th one was not "credible" enough....GONE are THOSE DAYS!

I was at the beauty salon getting my hair done, and this idiot comes in selling stuff. He had an umbrella hat on with the U.S. flag on it, and it was red, white, and blue. He sells a T-Shirt with the flag and the Twin Towers on it. I forgot what it said at the top of the shirt, but at the bottom, it said "I'm Glad I Got Out Alright".

Such poor taste!

I'm sure there are going to be door to door collections for the relief efforts that only go into the pockets of the collectors. Commemorative rubble or dust... there'll be all kinds of creative ways to make a buck, and always someone eager to capitalize on it.
