Let's go in to the mind of that desperate group that feels like their back is against the wall. I saw a special last night about why some of "them" (sorry for the them...but i am still unsure who) were applauding this attack....the special detailed a talk with one of bin laden's men...who made reference to our bombing of them with cruise missiles...how cowardly THAT is...from his point of view...he made perfect sense. (which takes more bravery...to give your life..or to fire a missile) Yes, I said it...he did make a lot of sense...we had just bombed suspected terrorist training grounds....but from the terrorist point of view...THEY are merely fighting against an aggressor that is a million times their size.

What would happen if aliens were shooting missiles at us from mars? If the aliens were stronger, bigger, better than us...a terrorist attack against them would be viewed as an attempt to weaken their resolve...a military victory.

Right now I don't understand enough about what bin laden and company are about...............Does anybody know? Does anybody care...or should we send more missiles...should we just eradicate them?

I don't know ALOT but I do believe that one of their primary beefs with the U.S. is our support of Israel who is their enemy. They feel that they and Israel are evenly matched and the U.S. who is mightier and stronger than both took sides.

They also feel that Allah(thier God) will reward them for dying while trying to defeat the devil (what they believe the U.S. and all of it's people to be) It's an honor to die in this manner in thier eyes.

Like I said I don't know alot so I am skeptical of forming an opinion but they feel that the U.S. joined their war by helping Israel and as such they have every right to retaliate. It's like 2 similar sized kids fighting the school yard and a much larger stronger kid comes out and says "I ain't in this but here...cut him with this knife." Of course the other kid is going to turn it's anger towards that larger stronger kid and feel justified in anything he does in retaliation. :(

I also feel that Bin Laden has been a suspect in so many bombings and terrorists acts and the U.S. has known that he is in Afghanistan but until this tragedy they did not put pressure on their government to turn him over. Instead the sent in missiles and sat back and said "Don't mess with me I'm bad" I think they should have demanded the turn of of Bin laden or gone in and got his ass a loooooong time ago. Honestly at the time of this attack they were not even actively looking for this fool. :(

but I think this topic is going to go over most peoples head. When ever we see something tragic we as humans want to some how get our arms around the situation. We want to try to understand what would make someone do a crazy or irrational act.

I don't know the details, but I would go as far to say that the Arab world hates the fact that we support Israel. If it wasn't for the USA they would have eradicated the Israelites from the middle east. Most black folks don't have the interest or exposure to fully comprehend all the dynamics of the situation.

If anyone has been watching the world news, it is on every night how the violence in the middle east has escalated since the new Israeli government has taken office. Basically, the new government has taken a strong stance against the PLO.

It would be educating if someone with some insight can add more color to this topic.

Last point, I wonder how many of us here know that there was no such thing as the middle east until the Jews were resettled. Prior to that it was all Africa, just north and south. I think this goes back to the fact that VP Gore didn't win. As soon as he picked a Jewish VP to run with him, I knew Gore wasn't going to win. Even against a knuckle head. There are still a lot of white folks out their that refuse to have a Jew represent them.

After the US fought Iraq in 1990, US troops are still stationed in Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden claims the "devil should not have control in the holy place" He is not fighting for freedom because the US helped him keep his freedom because Iraq would have stripped his family of their money. Saudi Arabia stripped him of his citizenship in 1994 & he took his inheritance with him. The PLO & other groups claim to fighting for freedom but the US has kept Iran & Iraq from taking over. What freedom is he fighting for? These groups are biting the hand that feed them & the US needs to let them starve.

Osama Bin Laden is a very, very rich man who was a citizen of Saudi Arabia and son of a multi-billionaire who was buddies with the King or Sultan of Saudi Arabia. He is the 17th of 52 children and possessor of a $300 million fortune. the Patriarch Bin Laden's construction company was given an exclusive contract with the country of Saudi Arabia to be the only company used on government construction projects. The exclusive made the Bin Laden family multi-billionaires. Osama Bin Laden left Saudi Arabia to go to school, he was unmotivated by academics, but became passionate about the study of Jihad religion.

Jihad is the most extreme form of Islam. It's based on the belief that Allah considers it the most holy sacrifice to die while fighting enemies of Islam. It is okay to attack them, to practice the religion with weapons. In the end, according to them, the world must succumb to an Islamic order. That is Jihad. World domination by the use of force. Most Islam countries don't even recognize Jihad and consider it's practice illegal. However, Afghanistan embraces Jihad.

Bin Laden became an influential, but behind the scenes figure in the Russia/Afghanistan conflict of the early eighties. The U.S. used to actually give Bin Laden and the Afghans weapons to help them in their fight against Russia. This was one of the biggest issues during the cold war of the 1980s. However, we were never friends with the Afghans. They were simply a smaller enemy than the Russians. Enemy of my enemy is my friend. He was exiled from Saudi Arabia and disowned by his family because of his extreme beliefs. Afghanistan provided him with Asylum. He began to harbor serious anti-American feelings for our involvement with Israel. He began becoming involved with more and more terrorist attacks, each one bolder than the one before it.

Israel was ushered into their native land. A land that historically had been their home and taken away from them. The U.S. helped them do this. (there is actually a Biblical prophecy of this in Ezekiel on this matter...but I digress). The peace accord that was signed at Camp David between the recognized Palestinian government and the Israelis was supposed to be the end of it all. As far as the official Palestinian government was concerned, it was okay for Israel to be in the land. End of story right?

Wrong!

Faction Palestinian groups and other Muslim factions just could not live with the Israelis in the area. So yes, we helped the Israelis. And we should. And for those who think the Israelis and the Palestinians is a fair fight, it's not close. Palestinians use car bombings and rocks, Israelis use tanks. We've helped Israel become a nuclear power. If Israel wanted to it could turn Palestine into glass.

That's a very brief synopsis of Osama Bin Laden and the Mid-East conflict.
