She goes for that movie! I have to leave the room, especially when the kids start up with the singing...Shheeesh...makes me wish I was there to snitch on them to the Nazis. (not really)
She loves anything Barbara Striesand has been in too, especially The Way We Were.
And any Natalie Wood movie.
and the Wizard Of Oz
The Song Of Bernadette.
All About Eve
Breakfast at Tiffanys.
I see her watching those, or listening to Striesand or Phil Collins and I point at her, yelling "White Girl! White Girl!"

..::white girl brigade::..
When I was growing up we had the soundtrack on vinyl. . .so you know I knows the words to quite a few songs. . .
"". . .Totally unprepared are you, to face a world of men
Timid and shy and scared are you, of things beyond your care
You need someone older and wiser, telling you what to do
I am seventeen going on eighteen, I'll take care of you""
""Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss""
""There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too.
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo)
Regretfully they tell us (coo-coo)
But firmly they compell us (coo-coo)
To say goodbye (coo-coo...)
To you...
So long farewell, auf weidersehen, good-bye . . .""

I don't know. The movie doesn't look appealing for some reason, but if I actually saw it I might like it.
Have y'all ever seen For Pete's Sake w/Barbara? Damn that movie is so damn funny.

I'm glad wifey ain't reading this! I am not bashing Phil Collins. I admit, I get into the departure from the thump and bump too.
But I got my limits.
There is no end to how much she can take!
Her list would include:
Neil Sedaka - Laughter in the Rain
Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel stuff
Anything Neil Diamond ( when I hear him - Far! I am traveling far...away!)
Anything Barry Manilow- (oh please!)
The Carpenters - okay, I am a sucker for Carpenters
The list goes on.
That's why I love her, there is no song too sappy.
When we drive long distances, I'll even make up a tape to play, and we are both singing many of the corniest tunes known to mankind. I would die if anyone we knew caught us. Why I'm even telling yall this much, I dont know!

The Sound of Music is absolutely great! But then I have been on an American Classics movie tangent lately. Lawd help me, I have even sat next to my father and watched some of the Christmas with the DuKe marathons, and um, I am hooked on True Grit! LOL
John Wayne was the man!!!
As far as music, nobody has mentioned them but, well, I have been listening to...the Monkees. Don't laugh! Don't act like you don't know all the words to Daydream Believer! LOL
Bright, sing it with me now....*Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl....*

I like The Sound of Music myself. I just wasn't in a mood to watch it when it came on tv the other night. I love all those old musicals and black and white movies.
Also, talking about Steve Perry, Aerosmith, etc. I spent most of my high school years listening to that type of music.
And I'm sorry, but I love Simon and Garfunkel. I caught the last of the tribute the did to Simon the other week. I was singing along with most of those songs. I like LuLu too, remeber To Sir With Love. Girlfriend sang that song.

I can freak her out by singing the Mr Rogers Neighborhood song. He weirds her out. And from the 80s, she hated the look of the Thompson Twins. So if I start off "Hold me now" with " I have a picture..." she starts looking for something to throw.

My daughter loves Grease. I didn't get a chance to get it for Christmas for her, but I will work on it for this Christimas. West Side Story is one of my favorite. I used to sit and watch AMC all day on a Saturday or Sunday, just watching all the good old films.
Ok, I got a confession........I like Shirley Temple movies:rolleyes: I know some of them are degrading to blacks, but I just enjoy watching them. My husband looks at me like I am crazy:eek:
