Back in the day when the Hush had a bit more folks that were articulate, opinionated, and strong willed you would get the call outs. Basically the folks didn't care to be popular or liked by everyone, they just dropped it, good, bad or indifferent. You know, not that PM stuff expressing disagreement or dislike. Not everything was popcorn and bubble gum.

Who on this board has enough wisdom to reign down judgement on everyone else on the board? Having a KIR police (or anything like that) is like putting someone ABOVE others. Yes, Que...it seems simple from the one that "says" it, but with some close examination (take a look at the last few KIR threads) and you will see the EXACT SAME PATTERN that we have in this thread. And that is where, in this case, you post a question and then for 3 plus pages people are asking questions and making statments just to learn from you that the definition is not what many have thought it was.

Many responses from you are in the form of short statements that tend to leave more questions than answers. I have seen you "come down" on one hush-ite that was simply, by my observation, attempting to gain clarity on your question. At that time, you basicly "shot' this person down by (you made some statement about it not being "rocket science"). That is not the kind of behavior that encourages "learning". Am I wrong?

Some times, the thread takes a path on its own and we get some cool knowledge in the process. But it still comes back to the original question and that some of us really do not know what your "Educational Punchline" is.

I am not getting any PMs on this, but I have no problem stating what I am observing here.

Going back to, as you have said, your 2000 resolution: And this should apply to EVERYONE, INCLUDING MYSELF.

It appears that some of your statements are counting on the fact that the readers have been here and read every post since september 2001 (translation: you, and others seem to reference a lot of historical hush references). This is a good way to leave the "hush puppies" out in the cold. And I know that I do not plan to go waaaaay back and start reading archived postings just so that I can get what angle people are comming from. To me it is very simple to just state EXACTLY what you want to say in the first few posts...which will allow others both new and old to have a good conversation, instead of half of the hush population trying and then finding out that they did not understand what the question is. Just look at the last few threads on this subject.

When the questions about clarity continues to escalate, the thread mysteriously ends. Will this thread end now? I hope not. I want to get something outta this. :D

we had a memorial funeral for the archived/old hush board/posts/threads a while ago :cry: that is a benefit that folks who joined before sept 2002 had was to do their "homework" and check out the archives so that they are in understanding of what current topics might correlate to.

Ok, hula here is my take on this:

1) "Not a hard concept to understand"? Flying the space shuttle is not a hard concept to understand...once you know how. I am obviously on a different track here...but that's ok. So how long should it take a person to understand simple concepts...days, months or years?. "Reverse Psychology"? Reverse psychology is a great tool that I use on my 4 year old. I tend to not play that with full grown adults. It imples that the person cannot logically think on their own, so therefore we do this reverse stuff so that we can "trick", by no evil intentions, into something. No no no. We are adults here. And I do not agree with the concept of having to go back and do "homework" just to understand what track their train is rolling on. Going back to some of those "Keeping it real threads", I notice that much time is being taken to understand...what the question is. I question whether that is the most effective way to "raise the consiousness of the Hush"...unless the attempts are to raise the consiousness of the "hush heads" only, and thus excluding the hush puppies from the lesson...Now why would anyone do that? ...Which (oh so well) leads me to my 2nd and final point...


2) If a thread is intended for someone or some people, then the spirit of Keeping It Real should lead the poster to specify what the thread is intended for, or what the thread is not intended for. The "leader" of the thread should do their best to lead in that area. Unfortunately, I am concerned that this will turn into yet another old vs hush puppy thing where we will have to post disclaimers (as you said, hula) specifying who we are and who we are not directing a particular question to. I do not necessarily think that it is a good thing. Maybe those conversations should stay in the "PM hyperspace" where, on the "outside", others can turn their attention to replying to topics that they can answer without wasting their time on discovering ...after 3 or more pages of replies that the thread was directed at a few people (which invalidates their whole involvement in that thread....).

(I'm just speaking my mind, with no intention to hurt anyone here...just throwing out some "seeds" of wisdom based on my somewhat limited perspective here, on the Hush)

Que, I have put together most of your definitions of what keeping it real means (in this and your last KIR thread) and came up with the following:

So "Keeping it real" means:

1) Staying true to one's self....which means that the person practices on the hush what they preach in the "real world"

2) I willing to stand up for what they believe and to not simply fall into "Group Think".

3) Be willing to "call out" or confront another hushite if they believe that the hushite was being unreasonably harsh towards another.

Is this what "Keeping it real" is all about? Do we need to add or remove anything?

The above type of list is what should have been made on the FIRST page of the KIR threads.

Some of your last few comments states that you have defined KIR several times...the fact that you have said it several times says that your point is not being clearly understood by a significant # of hushites. But if the above 3 points are what you were attempting to say, then we can all sign on to what KIR means and then we can finally move on to what the "Educational Punchline" is all about.

But It took a lot of (unnecessary) work. That definition should have been made at the beginning. We all should strive to be very clear when we post such deep questions. I think that the fist three or 4 pages of a thread should be used to discuss the issue, not to try to understand a concept that should be really easy to explain...Look at the past threads (as well as this one) and observe the confusion. The confusion is a product of a poorly defined question/topic...but we got clarity now...and that is what counts! It also helps to avoid topic drift...by allowing one to be able to refer back to the original definition...

Truer words have never been spoken. I know that the "Hush Puppies" get tired of us referring back to the old Hush but that was KIR in it's trues form. When there was beef...........it was duked out on the board. There were no PM, IM, phone calls, or Face-to Face disucssions. If you ask me it was better that way. When there are no curtains to hide behnd then you either KIR or get to stepping and if there was a hiatus taken by some so be it. But they knew what to expect when they returned and if they were not ready to deal with the "Realness" then they may go invisible and sit back and watch and when they were ready they came back. We did not lose too many back in the day because they were able to see that every on got dealt with.........

But just like in JUNIOR HIGH it was cool to be a part of the "in crowd" and we ALL crave acceptance to some extent. But some of us will go through great lengths to get it, no matter how dirty.Oh and lets not forget the weak lapdog types that who will go with things that they KNOW are wrong, they will even LIE just to be a part of the "in crowd". If this is the true spirit of KIR Que was referring to, I certianly don't want to have any parts of it. Folk had the nerve to call me childish and insecure....lol. Now that's funny!! If folks only choose to judge me from the past, I have no control over it. All I can do is control from this day foward. I am sure I will be tested even more so now. I didn't say that I cannot apologize, but I cant change the past, thats all. I mean sure I got 'problems' with the 'qualification' it takes to be on this board and the fact that ultimately that is ruled by a few. The constant shout that there is no inner circle flies up against the constant barrage of 'inner circle' thinking from the 'rooms' where you have to have a certain number of posts to the way the boards splits 9 times out of 10 if someone NOT in the circle gets to 'familiar' with the circle.

I also take responsibility for the 'perception' of who I am and my weaknesses and strengths. This, regardless of the premise is NOT like the real world. I can sit right here and slant this post and any others to totally create this 'person'.

So to stop rambling, lol - I think that for the most part - we like hearing ourselves speak - we like the feeling that dammit they are gonna listen to ME because I AM RIGHT, I AM HOLY, I AM THE BOMB, whatever WE think we are.

If we met daily in person I believe there would be some growth because we would be face to face and when we spit out some of this shit - you can add body language, eye contact etc. but on the boards; I don't think so.

you HAVE to keep it INDIVIDUAL.

You can't LUMP everybody in the same boat because growth is so relative to YOU.

to make the statement that black folk have NOT grown by leaps and bounds requires so much after definition that its truly an ignorant statement. (no offense)

for example: what is a leap, what is a bound? where is the growth chart that is used to measure all black folk?

Read the statement carefully I spoke in the first person as in it is MY opinion; whether or not it is fact sure is up for conversation and for the most part it was said for impact; you are familiar with just saying shit to evoke response aren't you ice?
