Ya check the mailbox and there's a letter addressed to your child from a friend of there's. First thing you say is why are they mailing something when they live a few doors away. You look at the address and still wonder. Then in both corners you see DHS #_ _. BAM you figure it out. So and so in juvenile detention.
Now do you open, read and give to your child?
Give to your child without opening?
Read and never give to your child?

not open it.
i use to have penpals from guys in prison (state/fed) and my mom thought it was funny. i don't write to them any more, but, it was a good experience for me. i learned not to go to prison for one! and how lonely these guys really are.

I wouldn't open it either. This is one of those times that I say a prayer that what I have taught my child sinks in....it has not failed me yet.

I would give it to my child without opening it and I would also take the opportunity to have the "crowd you run with" talk. As well as the "you don't wanna end up writing your friends" talk too.
Knowing me I would probably take my child to the jail to visit thier friend too just so they could see where they DON'T wanna end up.
