I just took a call (im back at the cable office only im in Piedmont, Al instead of Cedartown, Ga)

This lady wants to swap out her digital STARZ channels. I kindly explain that we can't do that but wanted to find out which ones she didn't like..

"well darlin, we dont watch the black STARZ, cause we're white" WTF? :D

since when do u have to be the same race as the people you watch on t.v.

We need a all comedy section to post shit like this!!! :D :D :D

Ignorace is STILL running rampant in the south.

I knew they didn't want to live next door to us...now they don't even want to watch us on TV...well Damn! :rolleyes:

That is a perfect example of the average white person's state of mind in this country. Al white is normal to them. A sprinkling of color is tolerated, and if it gets to be too many, then for them the interest wanes. Yet they expect us to be perfectly comfortable to be the one black in any given situation.

I remember over hearing this young white guy telling his friend about how his other friend he was out driving with pulled off the West side highway to a McDonalds in Harlem. He was joking about how nervous he was with people looking at him, and he felt the food should of been discounted to compensate for the danger they were in being the only whites. Stupid ass. He was amazed that his friend was like: " so what? What's the problem?" Then he saw me and went beet red. I just shook my head.

True, there may be a special flavor to the southern whites saying so matter of factly that Black programming is not for them, but its all around, that mentality. Sometimes they slip and say what they really feel instead of checking themselves in our presence. I bet they assumed you were white because they didnt have that visual reference and you didn't "sound" black.
