Finally I got to watch Superfly on Netflix streaming. It was out when I was in Jr High and couldnt sneak in to see it. My sister had the LP so the still images on the cover, and the music is very familiar.
What shocked me was the movie itself. I know the context - the Blaxploitation era... none of those films had any blockbuster budgets, but man this movie was really done on the cheap!
The dude's place, the nightclubs he frequented - I guess I had in my mind it was going to look more polished. Now that I think about it, even the Cosby-Poitier comedies were pretty plain, and they were major stars in their prime.
