Fam, over the Memorial day weekend, I came to the realization that I am just hanging by a thread in my current career. Many of you know I’m in IT. At my job, I currently work in website support.

History: I have been working in IT since 1992 (17 years). Fam, I was burned out of IT before I got this current job and that was in 2007. Now that it’s 2009, I am fried, dyed and laid to the side!!!

I have a plan to bounce in 3 years. Why 3 years? Well, I need to hang tight until my daughter graduates high school.

After that, I will have a little wiggle room to shake thangs up income wise. I think that my next career should not involve IT at all.

Do yall have any suggestions on what I can do after my IT career ends?

It's my opinion that you are far too creative to be stuck at an IT desk.

Perhaps you could take your knowledge into a more creative direction...such as website design.

Along the lines of what Lastry suggested: teach sound recording in hi skool or jr college

I'd do something with djing. Somehow combine your IT skills with your djing skills and create a niche for yourself that could somehow benefit you and other djs.

Thanks Folks, but
1. I do not have the patience to teach IT.
2. I'm lso burned out on website design.
3. I sold my recording studio in the early 90's and am not interested in geting back into that.

do what I am considering doing....

Go back to when you were a kid... what did you say you wanted to be way back then??? Yeah, you might not be able to be heavyweight champ of the world or play QB for the cowboys, etc. but you might be able to get in that field whatever it is some other kind of way....

so for me, if times get too tough in this economy... i might go see about becoming a firefighter, paramedic, etc.

so admin... what did you want to do way back in the day????

OK, well I still think you should do something creative...

Honestly, I think you have the talent to be a writer. Blood Brother, and that story about the Bank Heist...pure genius.

You've been watching people while touring with TSC, you've watched Hush folks online for years, and you people watch while doing the DJ thing.

Take what you've seen and spin in into some books. I know you got the marketing skills to sell books also.

It seems like you could be in a reality show. They now have these two women Tiny and Toya, I'm like, well damn if they are letting everybody do a show, how about Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash etc... A "Behind The Music" or something.
