I Smile
I sit back in this chair, and I just relax and I smile,
Not just a regular smile but also one that is similar to the happiest child,
I smile because this woman has a disease,
But I cry with that same smile because this woman gave it to my boy who had sex with my bride to be,
I smile because I am glad it wasn’t me,
I smile because if God weren’t God then I wouldn’t be me,
When I smile it represents the tears that I have shed,
I smile because it helps me forgive the pain, caused by the people I thought cared,
I smile because this man is doing a sentence of LIFE,
I smile because I saved that lady form being stabbed by his knife,
I smile because now this man’s family s looking for me,
But will I smile if I don’t run, and I see gates that are pearly,
I smile because; I know God got me, SO I KNOW I am chilling,
And if it is my time.. Then I am on my way God willing,
But I still smile, because my mother just stopped her addiction,
Stabbing herself with that syringe every day, will she stop I used to ask wishing,
But I smile because her health is getting better, no more trips to the clinic,
No more worrying about AIDS, from the guy whose needle she shared it,
I smile because my sister is pregnant, happy, but not engaged,
I smile because the nigga she was with, left her alone cause he was afraid,
I smile even more because I know she gon be just fine,
Have a few more babies, with a husband she knows is fine,
I smile because I just meet my daddy, after all these years,
Wondering where is the resemblance, and why he wants to meet over some beers?
I smile because I know there are far more struggles down my road,
Far more battles I will be faced with, but none of them are yet told,
SO I don’t know,
How much I will have to go up against,
But I won’t stop fighting, and I am not living in no fence,
And as long as I repent, for my sins, I should be aiight,
Lord please give me the strength the get on my knees one more night.
