Looking at my calendar the Monday prior is the King Holiday so that makes this moment all the more better (yep, more better!!!)

okay..so im researching about the inaugrural parade.

am i missunderstanding things or does it cost to go to the parade. and the swearing in? you have to pay for that as well. none of these tickets are less than 500.00.

anyone have any other info on this?

Babygirl
11-05-2008, 07:24 AM
I thought you had to pay for the Inaugral Ball, but I thought the "swearing in" was on the lawn at the Lincoln Memorial...

lovely
11-05-2008, 07:33 AM
i was wondering if the paying was for those seats all way in the front or something? or the good seats for the parade. but im not seeing anything that specifally says that.

Looking at the news last night, they were saying that some of those rooms maybe start to be cancelled now because of some of the folks who thought McCain would win would be cancelling their reservations.

Hopefully, you guys will be able to get something soon. I know I won't be going. My grandson's first birthday is that week, and I plan on throwing him a mini shin-dig.......

I talked to a friend who lives in the area and she said that it might be tough but she doubts if all of the hotels in the MD, DC, and VA will sell out. She works in DC and lives in Alexandria.

She recommends looking in places like Alexandria VA, Baltimore MD etc instead of right in DC.

I'm staying with her...but I hope that helps some others.

Sounds nice and all, and my sister from Cali was hot on us about tying this a good while back, but we would have to take the kiddies and damn, the hawk is going to be out! It's 17 outside today and the wind cuts it down too single digits. We be taking advantage of modern technology and be warm in front the TV, and have the dvds recording

^^^ we didn't get our anticipated tickets....and Babygirl doesn't do standing in fridgid weather well, so I made the decision for us to stay in Ga and have an MLK/Obama Inauguration Day celebration. For those of you going, please take pictures to share, be safe, stay as warm as possible!

Same here Babygirl. SC was only allotted 120 tickets, so I got a nice letter from my representative saying "sorry but we ain't got no more tickets". He encouraged people to come anyway...but I decided it's not a great idea with an estimated 1 -2 million others going.

But I have the time off, so I will be home watching everything from the comfort of my couch.

Don't have enough accumulated vacation time, I'm new. So, I'll be rocking my Obama shirt and watching the festivities with the kiddies.

Went and picked up my passes to the Torch Theatre on Panola and Covington last evening. V-103 is hosting - all 8 screens will be showing it live. It's too cold to be standing at Centinnel (sp) and I don't feel like the Civic Center - so this is perfect and near the house.

The Theatre is free - you just need passes.

Maybe we can have an online Inaugurational Hushnic via IM. Just a thought
