I was listening to OPP this morning and I was thinking that the use of ABC just made that song that much more hype.

What songs do you like that use an obvious sample and it actually works and enhances the song.

The monster is the "Paid in Full" sample, from Dennis Edwards' "Don't Look Any Further", and of course we all know it was used in a remix to save the "Unpretty" track for TLC. Plus Eric B and Rakim on the same Paid in Full track crossed an ocean of culture to incorporate the eerie vocals of Israeli singer Ofra Haza, and it's little known they in total sampled from about a dozen sources.

Because I've been known to listen to anything in the span of a day, I might hear the original in the am and then the sample later in the day. If I remember, I'll post it, but usually I forget and end up posting in bunches, lol.

MC Lyte- "Paper Thin". Using that Prince "17 Days" sample was genius. I remember hearing that for the first time, I was like Oh Shyt! They used Prince??? LOL.

I don't know if yall remember, but Prince was one of the "Musician's" that had come out publically against Rap and Sampling. According to him, it wasn't REAL music.....so in the middle of all of that...a raper sampled one of his songs? I found it hilarious and ironic and still do.

Later, Prince excepted Rap....incorporating it into his material and the rest is history?
