Nami-Wa (http://www.nami-wa.com/)
A while ago, I posted something for making your own skin lotion. Well, a few people told me that it was good enough to sell... so that's what I'm gonna do.
So far I've gotten great feedback from people regarding how good it works. Everyone seems to like the shea butter spread and all the fragrances associated with it. But, the big surprise was the medicated spreads. Apparently they work very well on combination skin and acne. It was actually developed for clearing up razor bumps on my face, but surprisingly it worked well on a variety of other aliments as well.
Currently, a good friend is testing it for psoriasis. If all goes well, that'll be the next targeted market. Good results so far!

Sounds good.........My son needs something for his acne. That Proactiv didn't do it.
What does Nami-wa mean? Just curious.

Nami means wave (which is a portion of the term tsuNAMI which means big wave) and Wa means complete.
As for your son, even the medicated spreads won't change it over night. It'll take about 2 weeks of steady use to actually make an impact. Unlike the more toxic medications, this stuff is a bit more gradual. So if he's looking to clear up a few pimples for a big date the next day, FORGET IT! The best he can hope for is the pimple to not look like an open wound.
My lady had issues with acne, although you'd never know it nowadays. She recently tossed out all of her Proactiv stuff in favor of our medicated spreads. BUT.... she also washes her face in the morning and before she goes to sleep, and applies the spread right after both washes.
Personally, I had issues with infrequent acne and this stuff cleared it right up.
Just to note, this by no means says that it's a perfect product. I can only tell you for certain that it works for me and my lady. We haven't had the pleasure of testing on extreme acne cases.
Also, my lady only likes the unscented medicated lotions for her face (I don't mind the scented versions and actually prefer it). She doesn't actually use the medicated stuff on her body, she uses the shea spread (she likes Lavendar and Vanilla) from the neck down. We are also experimenting with it for dandruff (so far it's looking like it's an effective dandruff treatment and hair moisturizer). I think it's because some of the ingredients are actually powerful fungicides, and in most cases dandruff is a fungal infection of the scalp.
So the more I test and discover, the more I'll let ya'll know.
Other tests in the queue.....
Nail fungus
jock itch
athlete's foot
All of which are fungal infections.

I might have to place an order. Something fungal for the scalp would work for me. I have eczema on my scalp (very little) and I sometimes get small bumps that scab over.
I also may try the stuff for my sons face and maybe the lavendar and vanilla shea butter. I love the smell of lavendar.

Hey Tett, the site and the products look good! Question: What's cubeba?

Question: What's cubeba?
Cubeba is an essential oil. It has a citrus'y smell, that's very pleasant. If you smelled it by itself, you'd think it was lemony. But, that'll only last until you actually smell something lemony. It's a very interesting scent.

After I had my oldest son, he kept breaking out with little bumps. The doctor told me to stop using baby oil on him that it was for white babies. She told me to use Olive Oil and I did up until he was about 1 or 2. It works really well.

I have the same problem with many petroleum based products. One of the reasons I started making it in the first place.

I may try that later but I'm more the amber/sandalwood/vanilla type. I'm thinking about the myrrh, patchouli & vanilla, the frankincense & myrrh and the grapefruit & patchouli and the unscented medicated.
My order will be coming right behind D's!:p

I will order mine when I get back from St. Louis or either I will just wait until I get paid next Friday and get it. I will still be in STL, but mom has a computer.
I am going to purchase the unscented medicated spread for my son and I want the Lavendar and Vanilla for myself.

Why do folks like that so much? I get lots of good reviews for that one and the lavendar and vanilla.
I'm very much more interested in wearing the sensual ones, but I do like the smell of the invigorating spreads... just not on myself! I think they're a little too pretty for my manliness. :p

In order, I liked:
Myrhh, patchouli & vanilla
Lavendar & vanilla
Geranium & ylang ylang
Orange & something... probably patchouli
I ordered a sample but wasn't sure if you could customize it or not so the above is what came.
Plus: fragrant, liquefies easily, appears to be long-lasting a little dab is sufficient....I use a lot of different stuff so I'm not sure how long a 2 oz. containter would last
Minus: shipping charges and one or two of mine were a little 'messy' probably from being in the hot-ass UPS truck, etc....so a sealant (inner or outer) to minimize leakage might be something to take into account.
But overall, I'm satisfied and would be likely to purchase again.
I'll go post a review on the website soon.

Those were the most popular scents, so they were the ones I put in the sample set. The rest are much more hit or miss with people, so we decided to eliminate the option to customize the sampler. I'd hate for folks to get something they thought stank. I'll look into it for repeat customers that simply want to try different fragrances. Maybe a discount on the 2oz sizes? Something to think about....

Good thing I didn't use the 1oz containers like my girlfriend requested!

I'll review the cost of shipping. I thought it seemed a bit high as well. Most of those UPS charges are automatically calculated, so something could be wrong in the formula the program is using. The USPS charges also came in a bit high to me. I'll have to push this back to the programmers.
I'll definitely look into a sealant ASAP. I'd probably have to seal it from the outside because contact with plastics can potential leech chemicals into the shea. Can't say I'm 100% all-natural and do that now can I? :)
But you are right, if it's spilling, I have to seal it. I'll test some shrink bands or something similar.
But overall, I'm satisfied and would be likely to purchase again.
I'll go post a review on the website soon.
You have no idea how much this feedback helps. Thanks a ton!
I've also gotten quite a bit of feedback on the site itself, and I'll probably end up doing a total revamp to it very soon. I'll keep ya'll posted. :)

Just to add... I'll be making a bug repellent in the coming months, and of course it'll be 100% all-natural. The last time I tried a commerical bug repellent I had a headache for 3 days.
Just have to decide whether to make it a shea spread or some kind of spray.
What do ya'll think? Spray or spread?

A shrink band would be ideal to minimize leakage with the packaging you have since the lid doesn't screw into the container.
As far as shipping, I think with some of those pre-determined programs they average on the higher side but with the conveniences of having your own scales and other shipping options available you may be able to tailor to your needs. When shipping is a part of your business it's always a good idea to remember what you save the consumer in s&h is that much more $$'s they spend on product.
I saw some other fragrances I'd probably be interested in so I will have to explore those in the coming months. I use/blend HBA products myself so some of the other scents would be a good base product to incorporate.
I'm making the move to 100% natural and not using a lot of chemical additives (yet, I wear makeup--my achilles...LOL) so I'll definitely be re-purchasing.
Continued success in your endeavors & ventures!!

I'd vote spread as being the better option because:
1. Allows less waste of product than a spray....the delivery method of sprays can clog, malfunction, etc. not to mention spraying it in the wrong direction (i.e. the air instead of on your body)
2. It can be applied more directly to areas than a spray which 9x out of 10 still needs to be manipulated during application because our skin surface isn't 'flat'.
3. Spreads are already your niche so why not run with it...no need to re-think packaging or formulating another consistency to your existing product, all your efforts would be on ingredients. In which case, if it isn't repellant--you still have spread which need not be wasted!
Hope this helps.

About your son's acne... what kind of soaps do you use? Does your son use a washcloth on his face?
Vegetable based soaps don't clog pores, so it's best to stick to those types of soaps. Also, one of the major causes of acne is dead skins cells falling into a large pores (a few other things happen along with that). If those dead skin cells are removed, that'll also help with clearing up acne.
Basically, there is no magic bullet for acne. You can have multiple things that would cause such inflamation. My products are good for the inflamation and balancing of the skins oils, but if other things aren't done, it can't stop acne all by itself.
So, switch to vegetable based soaps and use a wash cloth or something else to help remove dead skin cells... those are a big help.

Yes, he uses a wash cloth. He doesn't just have small acne bumps, he has the big ones. His nose looked like it was swollen the other week. I just want to get it under control.

2 things with the feet....
1 - Yes. It will help to soften feet, but callous skin must be removed. It won't work on dead skin.
2 - If smell is an issue, the medicated lotion will kick that in the butt.
Just to add... I made tons of revisions to the site. So the site you're looking at was actually alot different than what it was originally. Also, I made corrections to the shipping and will be ordering shrink bands for the top. So all of the feedback you guys gave was definitely helpful :).
