Fam, last week I brought a new car. I did not need one, but I found a good deal and felt I could not pass it up. Now, that same day as I was on my way to the dealership, I called one of my best buddies. I told him of my plans and he said...Hmmmm I might go looking for a new ride today as well.
Well, I few hours later I had my new car, so I called my buddy just to kinda celebrate and let him know the deal was over. My buddy then told me that he was at the dealership looking at cars.
Well a few days later, my buddy leased a new car. I can't help but wonder if my actions fueled his new purchase?
Can I get some thoughts on this from the fam?

He probably didn't want to be one up'd by you, so decided to get a new car as well.
I too believe he killed Anna Nicole and Daniel.

Que, I got a 2007 Honda Element. The previous one I had was a 2005. CarMax is a terrible drug!!!!

That's a funky looking jaunt. I'd have to lay sideways across the second row if I was gonna ride with you though. That door don't look bigger than a minute!

love the element...i always rent one for big catering gigs...wide doors and washable floors.
admin, i just think your boy needed an excuse. i hope a grown-ass man ain't trying to keep up with his buddy. was his old car a lease? if so, maybe he just wanted to shake it up a lil bit. he would only be coming out of pocker a couple thousand to get in a new whip. that's a lot of dough to me, but not to others.

Just kidding. I think that I'll let my 1995 Chevy (Geo) Prism run itself into the ground first...although, at over 230,000 miles, it doesn't seem like it's gonna die anytime soon.
But to answer your question. Yes. Often folks do that. I remember when my parents purchased their Mercedes (imported directly from Germany), Before you knew it, there was another new car a few houses down. They purchased a Chrisler...lol!
But I am not sure if it is "blinging" or not. It often makes me laugh more than anything. In some cases, it is "keeping up with the jones" and in other cases, it is folk waiting for others to make a move which encourages them to make a move. It seems to be part of human nature.

Z, is it part of Human Nature or Black folks Nature?
D, my buddy's old car was paid for, not a lease....he sold it and he is leasing the new car. He also has another ride that he is paying on.
I have 2 cars, but one is paid for, so I only owe on the new Element.....oh and the 2007 Element has carpet, so I cannot be washing the floors in this one. LOL
