The local restructure is knocking on the door......

Chey must make a decision......having started a year and a half ago...as a offsite contractor.....I became a full-fledge local employee....now the restructure is in full swing....

the other bookkeepers, clerical admin, an one more database accountant beside my self..will possibly have job changes, job locations, or even unemployed..."heaven forbid"....

My problem is this...although I joined the union mandatory...I'm not feeling or sharing the solidarity...thru this phase of the restructure proccess....One reason...this is the 1st time...truly in my job history career...that i truly "gel" with my manager.....

I hate to admit it...but the other staff (bookkeepers/clerical) are lazy, complacent..and have been on this gravy triain to long....little work production, shitty attitude, serious whinners...and for the most part underskilled..making sweet dollars...

Chey has worked private industry for the majority of her life...although I did a 6 year stint in the hospitality industry...that made me a vested teamsters member...which basically means...I'll get a lil change at retirement..."big whoop"...

I'm now at a cross roads.....the majority of the staff above mentioned...are 26-5 year veterans..in the same job....

Me being the new kid on the block...permanent since June 06...don't share their solidarity......

Why because...the national organzization is going to have their restructure, their way... regardless of the dozen or so of employees that bitch and moan......and 2, I never worked around so many lazy folks with zero work ethic...and 3...I want to be my managers assistant...point blank...and she said...if she gets her way..."hopefully I will".....is it smoke up my ass???possibly...but I rather take my chances...with her...versus..standing on a side that holds no leverage or brawn....I just can't be grouped with a bunch of whinners....

Is it wrong what the organzization is doing hell yea!!...will they do it any way hell yea!!!...Chey has to follow the cheese...

interesesting. i have a whole new outlook on whiners on the job now. i'll tell you about it over coffee one day, but i'm with you... follow the cheese.

the spot where i am at just went through a restructuring - firing folks and forcing others into retirement. it is something else how many new employees are around here.

you may be ok. you're not so vested where you're costing them money. in a strange way, that end of the stick seems to be the better place to be now a days if you want to keep a job.

for a year and half...that's all they did....

None of them would take an extra step...for nothing...if the contract stated...walk on the left side of the building everyday...that's what they did...we've joked in the past about having that gig were all you did was sharpen pencils all day and got paid...if they were in the middle of sharpening a pencil and it broke in two...they would call for help....and whin about it...

as I said...their gravy train is coming to an end..and they don't know how to make new gravy....

Maybe it's because in the last five years I've had to work to get a job and work to keep it...just knowing what the economy is all about...and what employers are looking for...IMO is a plus..will I be unemployed...come March..possibly...but you best believe someone is gonna pay Chey some ducketts...i ain't skurred...I have faith!!
