and yes i called her a bitch...

this co-worker looks at my son at a faculty meeting. any folks that have seen my boy thinks he's mixed. my ex was light. her great grandma was white, and her mom won't tell her about her father. but mom is black as night and family is caramel type. anyhoot...we met in the hood where we grew up. bottomline ol' girl is black and doesn't look like she could pass, especially once she opens her mouth...i digress.

this late co-worker (late because my son is up there all the time and everyone else knows him) looks at him and tells me that's what's wrong with me. i'm like huh? she looks down at my son and fixes her damn mouth to say, "you stepped out, you need a sista." at first i argued for my ex's ethnicity, then i got a hold of myself and was like so what if he was. you don't talk about a man's son and then use that to say that something is wrong with me.

wanted to go off, put my intellect overode my emotion. she was lucky. should i check her?

It's a shame that in this day and age people still use their ignorance as an excuse. Handle ya business D.

CHECK THAT HEFFA!

I went through the same thing with my oldest daughter....her dad is mixed, although he looks like he is black. never knew his dad, he died before I ever met him, and his mom is black.

Most of the nasty comments came from white women however, since I am black, they don't like to think about their fathers, brothers and husbands getting with a sista....

she had no right to go there. Let her know it.

i told my ex. she said she'll come up here and show my co-worker how black she is. tempting, but i calmed her down. i'll say something today at lunch. knowing me, it'll be one of those velvet gloved slaps in the mouth. it'll sound friendly, but she'll know she messed up.

Why dignify her with any response? It's none of her business who your child is by. It shows her ignorance for making the assumption. The best thing to do is to just say nothing to her. If she tries to step to ya like that again, just ask her to look in the mirror and tell you who her real ancestors are. I bet she'll shut up then.

at lunch i walked by and told her what my ex said. she tried to carry it like that would've been ghetto, but as i walked away she was like, i was just playin'. riiiight.

BW, i feel you, but when you use my son, well...daddy don't play that.

Why people gotta always make assumptions.

My good friends daughter is mixed. Her husband is black. People are always coming up to her asking who her child's REAL father is and she points to her husband. The both of them ADOPTED their daughter.

Niggas and flies...niggas and flies. :p

I would have told her in a dignified way she is outta line, I would have not lat that fester in me....

Especially in front of your son, your kids need to know they are being defended, I would have handled it right in front of my child, and let her know he is out of line.

When my daughter was an infant, people that didn't know her father used to always ask me if her father was white. That shit really got old. Just because I am medium dark, and she is light with grey eyes didn't mean she was white.

that woman was ignorant as well as rude. It's not worth even stooping to her level and getting ignorant but I would let her know that she wayyy out of line with that comment.
