i been with this co. for a year and i just applied for a different position within the co. i had my eyes on this position since i first heard of it.. i did some research on it and applied.. i went thru a phone interview. and had a personal interview yesterday. i know i did well.

i had on a blazer and it kinda hid my belly. i think i saw her glance at it a few times on my way out the door but nothing was mentioned. i was told that if i am considered then i would get a call from the hiring sup for a phone interview.

i know that january is gonna be a important month for the co. and i will be here. i wont take my leave until the end of march.. i dont want them to think that me being 6-7 months will interfere with my position.. i will spend majority of my time on the phone. trouble shooting and there will be 6 others along side me doing the same thing... my md has sat. appointments.. so i wont need to miss work.

i was told that i should tell them but i dont know how..does any have any suggestions.. im really worried that they wont consider me cause im pregnant and i need to assure them that i will still be an asset to them

Wow! That's a tough one. If you were earlier in your pregnancy, I would suggest playing 'dumb' about being pregnant. But if you are showing, then that would be tough.

But ultimately, I think that you should tell them.

WHO told you: "you should tell them"?!?!? Pregnancy is a protected right, it is neither a question a company should ask nor should you answer.

I have a few friends who NEVER said a word about being pregnant while at work for the entire 9 months. Although I haven't been pregnant, I'd suggest you keep your mouth shut... they will find out when you are hired... why give them a reason to disqualify you now?

You DO plan to stay in the job...

But I suppose if you just want to be fair, when the job is offered you might tell them before accepting including infomation like: when the due date is, how much time you intend to take and when you plan to come back.

If you really want to know your rights go to www.dol.gov

thanks you guys...

i was told to tell to be fair.. and avoid surprises... but iris that was a good suggestion..

after they give me and offer i will mention my due date and expected leave time.. that way if they retract the offer i will no why and can i can go forth from there.

and thanks for the link

if it's the same company go for it, but if it's a new company FMLA may not cover you.
