There are two people that I have to work with closely that get angry at the drop of the hat. The guy gets really red in the face and I swear you can see steam coming out of his ears. He’s really disrespectful too (throwing people’s work around, interrupting & not saying excuse me) The lady curses everybody out and is really rude to people over the phone. When they come near me I do not even want to deal w/them. Does anyone here have co-workers that are extremely hostile? Anyone have any ideas on how I should handle them?
P.S. The bosses already know they are like this, b/c they are this way w/EVERYBODY.

I couldn't work in an environment like that. Something would have to give. Somebody needs to do something. They need to get cussed out one good time and they will stop acting like that.

The library environment is legendary for having hostile, difficult people, that are extremely good at what they do....add in job security, and length on the job, and well..you pretty much end up with a bunch of old hags that should have retired 10 years ago, that are pissed off at the ones that replaced the old hags that died at their desks...

Yep it's the same way here. The guy has been here 30yrs and the woman 19yrs, they are not going anywhere until they retire.

It's not exactly the same but my co-workers are petty. They have to RUN to management with EVERY LITTLE THING.
Example: One girl here put her head on her desk during her lunch break, took a short nap. Was back to work on time. (we get an hour) SOMEBODY didn't like that so she was reported and now when we are on break or lunch and at our desks we have to put up a little paper sign that says "At Lunch" or "On Break" to show respect for those who are working. WTF???
Another example: About 3 weeks ago a girl starting selling Bubblegum to raise money for her church. When I chew gum I pop it. I know that irritates some people and my Mom won't even let me chew gun in her presence because it's irritating.
Yesterday I got called into the office and was told my gum popping was distracting my co-workers.
Now it doesn't matter that it bothers them I can respect that it is a irritating habit, I admit that...but how come not one of these PETTY sistas (all of them are black) could not say "Hey Tastey, don't do that. It's getting on my nerves" Why you got to report me to the WHITE B*TCH IN THE OFFICE. Ugh!
Why does EVERYTHING have to come down to "I'm telling"...Damn! If we had some play dough this would feel like kindergarten. LOL
