Actress Kim Coles says she would get more work if she were thinner

NEW YORK (AP) - Kim Coles says she lives in two different worlds: the regular world and Hollywood. "In the regular world, I am a funny, smart, semi-foxy size 16 who very much likes the woman she has grown to become," the actress says in the January issue of Rosie magazine. "In Hollywood, I am a funny, smart, cute, chubby actress who would get a lot more work if she were thinner."


The 39-year-old Coles says she's worked as a plus-size model and she's gotten down to a size 8 by running and lifting weights - but she wasn't happy then. She was hungry and tired.


"By the time I started working on the sitcom Living Single, around 1993, I had gained 15 to 20 pounds. Eventually I put all the weight back on," she says. "I finally realized that while being healthy and fit is important, being miserably skinny is not. Today I am fortunate, because I still work despite my size and sometimes because of it."

I am a very healthy conscious person, that excuses and eats right... But, I think the sexiest women are big... Call me crazy, but I would take Kim Coles over Tyra Banks...

Too skinny is really unattractive. Plus a size 16 really is not that big, it's closer to the average than a size 6. I know I prefer a man w/meat on his bones. When u can see skin and bones that does not look very healthy.

I love me some Kim Coles too, but don't be tieing her on the tracks when the Tyra Banks train is coming, and expect me to save her!

Seriously though, when I think of Kim, I think of humor, someone that opts for making a funny face over a sexy one. She has an attraction in a more marrying kind of way. She slowly plumped out after Living Color, hanging out with Latifah on Living Single. I am pro BBW, as long as you try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I certainly can't throw any stones. My wife qualifies as a BBW easily, and god bless her, unlike me and my weight, she has no hangups about it. At the same time, we both endeavor to reduce out of preventing health concerns. Hate to bring up the "sour grapes" parable, I just think it shouldnt be used as an excuse to just let go entirely. Some of the BBWs I see on the net are sumo-wrestler big, and they need to seek help. There is a limit to everything.

You are right. There is sexy plump, with all the curves in the right places, and there is just big. I think that Kim looks great. She looks healthy and happy. Everybody wasn't meant to be a size six.

Watch "Higher Learning", Tyra had a boob job, plus she slept with Seal (what that shyt on his face)... You can have Tyra... I will take Kim...

WHAT!!!!!!!!! The last time I saw her, she was like 16-18. I thought she looked good then. I wonder if she had her stomach stapled. Thats ALOT of weight in such a short time...

It's true. I saw a picture of her, and she looks like a different woman. I tried to pull up a pic from BET, but well, you know, if you have ever tried to go to BET, it is impossible....

i HEARD she was a 4...but it was a radio station...i don't know if i believe it...but I have heard that she is down in the single digits....i want to see a picture but havent found any....

...175-180...does that qualify me as "thick" or "fat"??? i ain't mad at Kim Coles...she is beautiful large or small...on the tyra banks/ananda tip, cwebb is stuck on stoopid...ananda is MUCH prettier AND smarter (in my opinion) than tyra...she brings something to the table...maybe cwebb can't handle it...

why do folks hate on tyra? i don't know if she is smart or not...she doesnt have her own talk show. she just takes pictures. she did do a lil acting but that doesnt show u smartness levels.

I was in the bookstore this past weekend and Kelly Price is on a magazine cover this month. . .I can't remember what it is though. She's been steadily losing her weight {like Vesta Williams did} since 1999, I think it was. So it's been a few years for her to drop 100-150+ lbs. Her mother & mother-in-law getting sick and one of them dying was her reality check.

Kim Coles was on this week's episode of SIX FEET UNDER on HBO. . .I was trying to decide if she was pregnant. . .she's no longe the size 16 she was in that article. . .I'm not good at guessing sizes so I won't hazard a guess.
