Nope tried it once and my arms got tired.. I'll never do it again.. I rather pay someone to do it.. I'll wash it myself though if I'm broke.

My neice does mine so it's a home perm, I guess that counts.
But you are not supposed to leave perm in long enough to burn anyway.

I will try the sweet and low, because by perms burn regardless. I alway base my entire head, but it always manages to burn. Tried different types of perms, home and salon's and they all still burn..

I use to do my own until I started getting silly with perming it to often and dying it. So when it broke off, I got it cut and my hairdresser started over. It has been two 1/2 years since I did my own. Since I know hair a little better I am capabale of doing it my self. The only problem is I like Affirm relaxer and you can only get it through professional.
But never heard of the sweet n low stuff.

The technical term is RELAXER.
Perms are white Causican people put in their hair to make the hair curly. Relaxer straightens the hair.
M'Kay?!!!:hammer

her momma do it....*she get it from her momma...sing along!* You are truly silly. I go get my hair done every week, I have done my perm before, and I can never get it done evenly so I don't play with the chemicals. It's nice and healthy now, and I want it to stay that way. No, I have never heard about the sweet 'n' low thing.

lovely,
I went Natrual a few years ago and I LOVE IT!, it's tough making the transformation but well worth it. I suggest seeing a professional at first because you may experience some breakage during the the transformation. I see you are in MD.. I know of a few grreat natural hair Salons in the DC area, I will be happy to give you some #'s

30 years of creamy crack can wear on a sista. Really, I've just had enough. In honor of my mid life crisis, I am considering locs.

i did get it done at my girls shop.
she aint put no sweet n low in it as far as i know..lol.
i would typically do it (the relaxer) myself...but i wanted it cut as well...and i defintly wont cut it myself.
oh she used motions..if im not mistaken.
i was traumatized cause i wanted the natural thing so bad...but this new job...i hate to say...but i have to kinda not look to ethnic...and it was getting to bushy to even put in a ponytail...or curl..straightening it...i had to go and touch it up every couple of days..and when its warm..and i sweat... to much to deal with. and to me putting it through the stress of ponytail holders...and burning the mess out of it...is just as bad as a relaxer...so............
and then this was something else in my life that i wasnt able to commit to....

It's all good.
Yeah, putting heat on it all the time is just as damaging.
Sometimes people go back and forth all the time. It's cool. It's hair have fun with it.I doubt that I will be natural for the rest of my life. Who knows?
