Well Malcolm Shabazz 17 was arrested while in a stolen car. He was supposedly involved in a robbery. He assaulted a 17yr old and robbed him of $100 while holding a gun. He then took the guy to his home and robbed him again. IN 1997 Shabazz then 12 pleaded guilty to arson and other charges for setting the fire that killed his 61-yr old Grandmother Betty Shabazz. He had went to juvie for that one. But I guess he got out...

I think sometimes these youngsters come out of juvie after learning all new tricks of the trade.

You know what? If my grandfather was malcom X and my name was Malcom Shabazz, I'd be trying to live up to the name and making myself worthy of it and Him.

Let us also not forget that Malcom was a small time hood and arrested/jailed before he became Malcom X...so maybe this kid DOES have hope??

Yup its the same kid that was living with her. You would think that after that happened he would have straightned his life out.. The guilt of killing his grandmother.

That's got to be a hell of a lot to live up to? I mean to him Malcolm is a legend, he never knew him, his mother never really knew him. It's alot to live up to.

Besides that isn't his mother the one that tried to pay somebody to kill Elijah Mohammed???

The poor kid got criminal tendencies all up in his blood. Let's hope he'll make a transformation...and soon.

....might be part of the pressure that he cant live up to. This would not be remarkable news if he wasnt linked to Malcolm X. This is so typical of the young black male's journey in America. Self esteem is so low, the only thing that they can take pride in is the ability to wreak havoc. John Singleton had some good dialogue on that dilemma in "Baby Boy". I cant even be mad at at the kid. I hope he does turn himself around and be an inspiration. There are enough "bones on the pile" prematurely.

Maybe when he spend time in the penitentary like his grandfather, he will be reborn, cause the way he is acting that is exactly where he is heading.

Also, I agree Toffee, you would think he would have some guilt...I mean the guilt of the whole world on his shoulder. She was a very important women.

Another thing, wasn't that his mother that was in trouble by the law when she was involved with some money issues? I remember seeing one of his daughter (not Atala) being taken out of the court room cause she was on trial for something and ended up getting probabtion.

I think his guilt should go deeper than killing an important person.. that was his grandmother... I would feel awful especially over something so stupid as arson.
