getting my freelance writing thing off the ground and recently got ganked on some $$$. (But a fat new gig came in today!) One hard lesson learned...now I'm putting together templates for my invoices, proposals and job estimates, etc.
Just wanted to know if anyone knew of any resources I could check out for contract info and small business advice. I've found a few but just want to broaden my knowledgebase...
thanks fam...

Try the Small Business Administration (http://www.sba.gov/ca/sacr/), this should be the link for Sacramento and the CA's Franchise Tax Board (http://www.taxes.ca.gov/Small_Business/index.htm)

I'm in the music business and we use "This Business of Music" as a template or guide. I have seen books that had sample contracts in it. If it doesn't exist in your field.. Write it. Sounds like another money maker.
I am looking at the technical site.. great info.

Hey D2, I actually just finished developing templates:estimate, contract and invoice. I combined info from several sources and just used the contract yesterday. (client was very impressed!) Hadn't thought of making $$ from it but that's a definite addition to my bag of tricks...

Well, Microsoft Publisher has some nice templates for invoices and such. Also do a web search for these. Also get those Nolo Press books ...they have the Bomb ass forms and all you need is a local Kinko's and you are off and runnin'.
I also found that just writing a good letter (non formal) get's results.
