The King Telethon

Beatrice King is and has been on the radio this morning on behalf of the King Center and raising some money to keep it open and viable.

Of course Holier than Thou Frank Ski is beside himself as the show runs over it's 10:00 ending - but I feel sorta like this is getting the people in an uproar and kinda 'using' emotions to get something.

Of course so many of us are passionate about King and his legacy etc. etc. but I still (especially as a child of a parent who's estate etc. I'll be handling and making sure she lives on OF COURSE it doesn't compare to the magnitude of King) but his children and their inabiilty to do something (I haven't quite identified what) helped run this bad boy into the ground. I'm still trying to deal with that before they start milking the emotion.

I am confused about the details of this story. I do understand that they (King children) want to work and honor his legacy, what I don't understand is if they don't have the resources (money, business acumen, interpersonal skills, etc) then why don't they let others join them in their efforts so that the Center stays opens and flourishes? What is really going on down there? In short what do the local folk say about all this? Is this all about ego, special negro status, he was our daddy and we don't want him to be a public icon no mo less we can control it?
This just seems like such a shame. How much money and power are at stake here, or is that way too cynical? Also, I heard something about a cousin (Isaac Farris?)who was trying to sell the Center, is that true?

Dexter's a man whore, who loves to spend time and money in the company of women. Yolanda pretty much does her own thing out in Hollywierd. Really, only Martin III and Bernice are doing what they can to preserve the legacy. Bernice through her calling to preach and minister and Martin III through his business and leadership skills. I believe they are just now finding out how bad Dexter mismanaged the money and compromised the center. I mean Coretta can only do so much, she isn't a business woman by trade, she's simply a woman on a mission to preserve her husband's legacy. I'm sure she didn't even know all what Dexter was up to. I'm sure this is why the children are infighting. They are trying to figure out a way to clean up this mess and take care of their ailing mother. Not an easy thing to do.
