Fam, I was up late last night and watching the Discovery Channel. well, they have a series/docu-drama about actual Navy Seal Training.
Now, I was glued to the tube. I had heard that this training was the toughest in the military, but Dayuum. They had fools passing out, sufferring from hyperthermia(sp), ringing the bell 3 times and just quitting.
Hell I wouldn't last 2 hours:D, but do you know anyone who has made it through and actually is a Navy Seal?

yes, i do.
navy seal training is tough
army ranger training is tough
air force delta force is tough
special ops units are all tough....
the difference is navy seals have to be able to swim a mile or two
rangers have to be able to run a marathon or two
delta force has to be able to ...hell i'm not sure...something involvin airplanes
yeah it's tough but to be selected to even try...u have to be pretty kick ass!

Que, maaan, you gotta see this series!! I was yawning and shyt! trying to stay up and watch it all. They sell the entire series on DVD..
Network: Discovery Channel
Series: Navy SEALs Training: BUD/s Class 234
Episode: Welcome to BUD/s
The eighty-three men of Class 234 have been accepted into the training program that forms one of the most elite fighting forces in the world. A physically grueling course is designed to weed out all but the toughest and most dedicated students.

yeah. i worked with all types when i was in the corps. all pretty bad ass and the training makes them more bad ass. my unit was attached to a spec ops command in kosovo. cool thing is that we partied harder than anyone i've ever met. if you didn't die from lung or liver cancer then you were a pussy to these guys. i loved it. beats you down though. d's woke up on park benches in spain fuckin' with these guys. and trust, you don't wanna be standing in the room when we kicked down the door and shouted "get down."
admin, usa started a series "combat missions" which is a survivor/real world for spec ops guys.
i'm starting to get a respect for spec op cops like swat.

seals are taught if shyt gets ugly, find water. most folks won't chase you there and if they're dumb enough to, then woe to them.
delta is anti-terrorist. they do hostage rescue, osama finding shyt.
rangers are the mil's version of the CIA. they go in and start uprisings and shyt and the can mass a lot of ass whoopin at one time.
corps force recon, is the corps version of seals. getting better respect, but not under spec ops comm in florida.
enough, now i must kill you:D

those dudes are big BEFORE they even become seals...on the first day they were running 4 miles on the beach in 50 degree weather with no shirts on...nuthin but muscle...even the thin mofos....

thats what i'm sayin...
the selection process to even make it to seal training is VERY competitive...to wash out of seal training is still an honor because most people don't even get the chance to be considered.
it is an honor.
but u have to be mentally tough....mind over matter....will get you through when your physical self says it has had enough.
you make it sound like its easier to become a shaolin temple monk...LOL!

i got much respect for them, but....
to me its just like any profession....you have to dedicate yourself to it to become it...
like doctors, lawyers, firefighters, etc...u have to want to do it...but once u decide that u want to do it....NOTHING can stop u...but u.

I know someone.. he is about 45yrs old.. Nice looking man too.. damn... but anyway.. he was in it I think in the 70's.. He said all those rednecks were racist but by the time training was over everyone was like brothers. He also has 2 blackbelts one in Kung-Fu and the other in Hapkido.

In 1990 when I went in the Navy, the classifier asked me if I thought about going into S.E.A.L. training. I was like sure, why not.:p I took the test for the run and the swim and passed. My scores were high enough to go but I declined after talking to a few SEALS at the swim test. I jumped at the offer just because they asked but my heart really wasn't into it. Would have been a waste of time.
My hat is off to those guys though. Many of them are not big at all but strong as a fuckin ox. When I was living in CA, going to work at 0530 in the morning, you could see and hear the guys going through BUDS training. Imagine running 5 miles on the beach then swimming 2 miles out and two miles back in before the crack of dawn. Fuck coffee!!! If that cold ocean doesn't wake U up, nothing will.

Yo Mack, you saw it too? LOL, man..I was up late ghosting Mrs Admin's HDD on her PC and burning CD's, but I was more glued to the TV.
Yeah 80 sumthin volunteers and did you see them lined up to ring the bell 3 times and opt out? LOL, shyt!
Mofos, were passing out, getting hurt, hypo-thermia from the cold ocean..and the instructors were more fit than the trainees.....spraying water on them with the water hose?
Looked like some footage of a MLK march in Selma Alabama, back in the day....

PS: Que is right...it's even an honor to leave Seal Training..say after a week or to be "Rolled" due to an injury....most cats would never even try that shyt. I know I wouldn't.:D
But I do have the mindset that you need and if I was in shape...I might could, but I'd definatley train for it before stepping one foot up in there....couldn't do it cold. I feel that if your body is strong and you have the endurance for the running and swimming, then you'll make it.

I'm surrounded by military where i work and i'm sure there is on of each in that building.
My thing is this, are any of these men married...i know it must be hell.
I saw something a while back about becoming a NAVY seal on cable, maybe it was that.
I know i couldn't make it...i can barely walk a mile.
Now what do my MARINES do...is it the Green something...i forgot the name.

You mean Green Berets, tee?
I'll have to see if they're re-running that special. I saw the movie Men of Honor with Cuba Gooding, Jr. and anytime you fooling around in some water it's serious.

Demi was bad in that. . .inspired me to want to do those hanging sit-ups and one armed push-ups. I'm not at that level of intensity yet but I still try.

I especially remember dude in the water struggling with himself whether he could go on with the swim or not suffering from hypothermia(sp). I was like whoa!
Hats off to em...I know I couldn't do it.
