Admin pointed out a good way to up your score.

Here's another neat thing that businesses do ALL THE TIME.

Now this method will not IMPROVE your credit, but rather give you a NEW CREDIT LINE....

1. Get a dba in a business name and get a separate tax id for that business name
2. Go open up a business checking account
3. Now....apply for a business line of credit.

yes, they will base your credit line on your personal credit, BUT

your line of credit purchases will not count on your debt ratio from your personal credit report...in fact ....it won't even show up.....anywhere unless they grab THAT credit report ....which....you may eventually want them TO!

i'm gonna do this tomorrow...let ya'll know how it goes.

it's a way to KEEP good credit...

especially if you NEED credit you can use your OTHER name, instead of your true name.

your maiden name is attached to your original TAX ID called a social security number.

A dba cost about $15....the hardest part is figuring out the name of your new identity.

Que, I read about this a few years ago. In the book I was reading, the author called it a second credit file?

You can also alter/change one digit of your SSN and this will create a new credit file.

misha...

you do not need a lawyer to get a DBA.....but you will probably have to go to your county courthouse.......

also....the TAX ID can be done at irs.gov

they will call it an EIN....but it's the same thing.

you set it up as a sole proprietor...

for any of you that operate some OTHER business....this is a DEFINITE must do.
