If you're a manager at your job and you supervise nothing but African Americans.....and all they do is bitch & moan, and tear each other down, and half-ass work. How would you handle it???

Would you eventually inform the big boss??...(Who's white)
knowing once you inform him of what's going on heads will roll!!!!

:beating :beating

I wouldn't do or say anything. I would let them screw themselves. A long as the work was getting done I wouldn't care. What u gonna do let them get fired, hire some more black people and let them do the same shit.

If they are the type of people that can accept advise I would pull each person aside and let them know that there behavior is inappropriate. I'd try my best at explaining that there is a certain way that they need to conduct themselves, give them some tips.

If they don't care and still continue to act the way they do, then I would have to report them. You shouldn't have to deal w/petty bs. It sounds like the work isn't getting done properly, so it wouldn't be personal. It's business.

Well.. If you don't do anything about it then it falls on you and makes you look bad...

I would hold a mandatory meeting and explain to them that there will be some changes.. I would explain to them that this is a business and there will no longer be any goofing around, late attendance, or whatever else they are doing and then I will have each of them sign the minutes to the meeting.. I would also start writing people up if they don't follow the rules... And yes.. Some may end up fired... Your job can also be on the line because of them so I would have to cover my ass and do what I have to do to make sure they know I mean business!!

the cost of management....can be high....but it is why u get paid the big bucks...if you can't handle it....then demote yourself...but color should not be the issue. In general people have problems checkin other people....its not easily done by all...most people do it and come off as an ass or a bitch...but only the best can do it and be considered a leader.

chey...
it's all about expectations....your have to fashion and frame your expectations...and explain their relevance to the company's expectations....
then...it is accountability...

i can remember...having to reprimand one of my troops....i remember that it hurt me as much as it hurt him...i really felt that I had let that troop down.....that maybe i could have been clearer about "yo ass will be here at 7am"...he had yet again...ONE MORE excuse as to why he wasnt there at 7....so...at that point it was ...well...i understand your excuse (probably a lie)...but there is NO excuse...you were to be here at 7. period...and now...we have to hold u accountable...otherwise...you will feed me another excuse....later.
that person was never not on time again! so....i took the reprimand out of his file...and tore it up. i did it in front of his face...i told him..."hey...u helped me out...so i'm helpin u out...this paper is not even necessary...anymore"

I let the owner know that that he's employed a bunch of losers, because he trusted the biggest loser of them all.....His sales manager...who's a SNAKE!!!...who brought nothing but slithering worms with him......He does things that are unethical, and unprofessional, and plain ole' half-ass...(white owned/black employeed)... The owner brought me on board to set policy & procedure...They've resisted every step of the way!!!.... But Chey's still giving them the old one two:beating :beating

So, just because this is white boy's money let's use him, spend it, scheme, game and get over????..WTF...

when I suggested bringing a whole new crew on board??? the owner looked at me with hurt and confusion???

I can not teach these grown-ass hustlers professionalism!!!

chey...the incumbents ALWAYS have trouble with change...if i understand your position...u are there to set new standards and basically change the entire way that business has been conducted? this will always breed problems....yes, a new crew would be easier, but not economically feasible because u have to train from scratch.

not necessarily... in chey's (and mine) industry... if you higher folks who know what they doing (i.e. chey and myself and quite a few others we know), training is a piece of cake. the only minor training diffence is the product that is sold and the equipment used.

chey bringing in a whole new crew would mean some of the top dogs in this market/industry/area! :D

see, Que...that's my problem....he's not mom & pop, but he's a 2 partnership corporation...2 station affilates.....P&L and Budget...right now won't justify a new crew....if it did....Admin & Hula, and others I know would defintely be on board....not to mention my 20K pay increase....

Still thinking of ways how to show an old dog new & better tricks!!!....
