Last week I had the displeasure of attending three seperate furnerals. One was a relative of my wife and the other two were friends of mind who died in a auto accident. At all three certain people were assigned to do specific jobs on the program. I can understand that when some dies and you either know them or the family you want to help and show the family that you cared and want to comfront them, but if are asked to do one job you should just do that job and not go out your way to do other things. For instance, if the program calls for you to do a 2 min. reflection that does not mean you get up and sing a solo(thats the Choir or solist job), attempt to preach the eulogy(thats the preacher job), and then do the reflection, or if you are asked to do the Invocation you don't get up and try to lead the congregation in a melody of your favorite hymns(Thats for devotion service). In addtion, it is not the pastor job to put someone in heaven or hell(that job belongs to Jesus)

Sounds like my moms second funeral. She had one funeral where we lived, and had a second funeral where she came from. At her second funeral, there were people I had never seen before clowning and carrying on.... people that were supposed to say a few words going on and on....some of the worst singing I had ever heard...I wanted to roll up the sleeves on my black suit and whoop some ass.

I was just thankful that her first funeral was nice, and exactly the way she wanted it.

Mr. Famu, I am sorry to hear of your losses. Keep your head up. I totally agree with what you are saying.
