how can i even begin to afford a house?

this probably can go under the "get it off your chest" forum.

so in a couple of years...my credit is fixed and im ready to buy a house...the costs of house and the amount of money im making, even if i get a job paying the average that most Admin assitants in this area make..i (alone) will never be able to afford the 200,000 that houses are going for...at my present or the average pay for folk doing my job.


i am about to look into different programs done by the redevelopment housing authorities in the area and see if there are some 1st time buyers..i even think Hampton has a single parent program. see if i cant get hooked up with some of those

but geez..the cost of a house and the pay rate around here....dont dont go together well.

i'm in the same boat. I've managed to increase my salary by $10k in the last 3 years and STILL... no sucha way i can afford - yet.

I need to tack on another $20k if I want to be 'comfortable' affording a mortgage(meaning monthlies paid and taking 1 vacation a year with me and my son only lol)

But knowing my behind, I just might get 'there' and end up having to rent cause it'll take another few years to save up the freakin down payment (cause i got to leave my mom's house - house or no house) or postpone the savings account to afford mine and my son's future ongoing college edumacation.

my guess is that there are a variety of prices in the homes in your area...

you may not live in the siddity neighborhood...but don't have to live in the projects either to find them...

They just had an article in the paper about this. People are renting out rooms in their home and eating only pb&j sandwiches.

I need to go elsewhere if I ever plan on owning a home where only I live there.
