Ok...admin said plan so dammit i gotta plan.

for those who are going. What i need to know is...what amount of money did you delegate for your spending during husnic? I know my travel costs depend on where the next hushnic is. (and shame on me for missing the one less than an hour from my house :beating ) but i need to know how much to save up for cause I needs to be all up in yall's face for Hushnic 2006. Admin said niggas can afford what they want and although we aint eatin steak and i got two dollars in the bank right now...im sayin to myself I think i can I thin i can LOL

so...whats the answer?

I will use Hushnic 2004 as example of what I spent:

R/T flights from Norfolk to New Orlean $220.00
3 nites at Hotel Monaco $89/nite $267.00
r/T shuttle service from airport/hotel $18

****************************************
Thursday

lunch-TGI Fridays $20

Bourbon Street (drinks & clubbin (no cover for club)- $25

House Of Blues(dinner)- $30

************************************

Friday

Brunch- $15

Nachez Steamboat river cruise/Aquarium-$30
Drinks onboard cruise $20
(2)Group photo's Pic- $20

Dinner (tip)-$30

Bourbon Street/Club- $25

****************************

Harrah's Casino-I gambled $20 bucks
Buffet Dinner @ Harrah's $24
*****************************

$220-flights
$150 ($300 total- CL & I split the hotel)
$260- Food, entertainment, etc $260
$50- souvenirs

*****Total $688.00**** Of course you dont have to spend this much

You can further reduce cost by not flying in on thurs and arriving on Friday...It doesn't matter when you come, long as ya show up!

LOL@jaila

Dont get it twisted...you can come to Hushnic or any trip with little to no money and still have a good time. I watch te food channel and they have this show called 40 a day. This woman goes to different cities and only has $40 to spend to eat for a day, she does this in style.

So, if you like to Ball, you'll need about $800-1K...if you are on a budget, you'll get by with about $500-$800.

Holla
PS: This will only work if you really really wanna do it and you can apply this formula to any trip not just a Hushnic.

Okay Sea, how you remember all that? The names of places and everything. Damn.

At the two Hushnics I went to I just took advantage of deals. In Orlando the renting of the house made it very affordable. Using my sisters timeshare in New Orleans, buying my ticket early enough to get a deal (I paid like $180 something from Oak).

You should start up a travel fund (I use my "Screw You Money" savings account for travel). Do it like any other savings you want, cut back on the nonessentials, and put a little away consistently. It'll add up.

I'll use ATL because with Orlando, i think everyone saved and had decent money.

flight - less than $200, think it was like 150.00
hotel - 3 nights, but i got 1 free and a discount due to my room having been changed like 3 times. bill was like 160.00
i forgot all that we did but i think i spent like $250.00, i know it wasn't much more than that. Most breakfasts were at the hotel because it was free and that french toast was delicious.

i think the easiest thing to do is buy the ticket early....last year i remember when the ticket was like 49.00 each way but i waited.....

Last year i also got a call to do a last minute show the weekend before HUSHNIC and that also gave me extra money. I'm not a heavy drinker or eater unless it's seafood, so i guess you can say that i save there as well.

Do i have a travel fund that i deposit into each payday, no but i have a holiday fund.....maybe i should start one.

This year will be the tightest for me, but i think i'll be fine, right now i just need to get away.

When I went to New Orleans, I had little to almost no money.

I got a standby ticket thru my husbands job for $80
My hotel, was a little over $200, then I had maybe $130 to $150 to spend for eating and entertainment. I had a blast.

We didn't do big restaurants every night. We ate breakfast at a little cafe, had lunch at another cafe, we ate dinner one night at......dammit, what was the name of that restaurant........oh well, we went to the aquarium and rode the steamboat. Went to the casino, but I didn't spend money there. I did help Admin win about $50 though. He compenstated me for that win.

It can be done on a small budget.

Good Idea J -

I need my stuff to be simple, so I did some basic math:

Saving:

$25/month will net me $300 next August
$50/month will net me $600 next August
$75/month will net me $900 next August

If you have direct deposit - your employer can delegate money to any accounts. I know here - we can put a certain amount in saving right out our check. I should have been doing that ANYWAY.

I also know when banking on line - you can specify that a transfer be made between accounts. I bank with Wachovia and if I make a transfer it will ask me reoccuring? What Dates?

As well as, when I really need to save money - my best friend and I give it to each other. She lives a good 40 minutes away, I give her what I need to save and she gives me what she needs to save.

I don't mess with peoples money and we talk each other out of driving that way to get it, lol

That's how we saved for the NY trip and then when her Aunt Passed she had $450 sitting at my house.

I'm going to try this. At my job we have a credit union and I can set up as many accounts as I want. I might set up another one called the Hushnic Accout and have them take $25 a paycheck and put in there. We get two paychecks a month and on a couple months we get three. $25.00 x 26 paychecks is $650. That should be enough to cover my airline ticket and hotel stay.

I think I better set that savings account up for next year. I didn't do it for this Hushnic or the last one.

I really don't want to miss another one. I wonder where it will be next year????
