Notre Dame considered 3 dozen folks before Willingham, and then only when ND had to face the national humiliation of hiring a liar did they get serious about Tyrone. And they only went after him after Neuheisel from Washington took himself out of the running.

It seems like ND went after a black coach as a way of building PR and goodwill after losing a lot of face with the sports community. Willingham had a good job with a nationally known and very competitive major program. He didn't need the ND job. Especially after all the crap it took for him to get the job. I'd have said no thanks.

Shod, Iwas thinking the same thing. I wonder why he would except the job now! I guess he wants to prove a point also. You how they should have hired him from the beginning. Well I ope everything goes well for him at ND.....
